We bought these at the Texas Renaissance Fair (sorry, Amazon) two weeks ago after looking at them for 4 years. The tone is beautiful. They are loud when you are in proximity to them, but the sound fades quickly with distance. I had my wife ring them while I stood by the fence to see if the sound would bother the neighbors behind us and I could hear them only faintly at the fence (about 30 feet away). They are about 2 feet from the corner of our house and, while we can hear them inside, the sound is not overpowering. In short, unless your house sits right on top of your neighbor's or you place them near your neighbors' house, I would not worry about the sound level.

That's all I can really say. They sound great. If you live in a town where your neighbor's might be a little picky you might watch out because they are quite loud. They simply fill the air around them with sound.

I have never heard a wind chime with a purer or more consistent tone. The build quality is first-rate as well. Worth the price and then some.
