Product Description

Introducing the amazing MICRA system from Athena TECHNOLOGIES® - A complete 6 piece music and home theater system that is designed to complement your lifestyle, while providing sound quality that's second to none. Athena's Toronto based parent company virtually invented, perfected and pioneered the Satellite/Subwoofer system category with the legendary Take 5 system from sister company, Energy Speaker Systems. In an act of younger sibling rivalry, The Athena engineers noted the huge success of the Energy product and set out to improve upon that success. The Micra6 system sprang from this motivation. Based on industry reviews and consumer response, the upstart Athena engineers may have managed to surpass the lofty benchmark set by Energy.Home Theater Magazine (May 2004) gave the Micra 6 their Hot Ticket award and gave an overall rating of 93 (Outstanding). Value-98 and Performance-95. Ratings that Defines the State of the Art.This system has four identical MS satellites with long throw woofers and highly efficient textile tweeters. Each satellite includes a flexible mounting bracket allowing wall and ceiling mounting. Completing the system is the M225 8" active subwoofer. Designed exclusively for use with the Micra system, this unique subwoofer will take little floor space while providing huge amounts of clean bass. The Micra system works extremely well in small and mid-sized rooms. The Micra system will perform admirably with any television, but is particularly complimentary to Plasma and LCD type screens as the slim profile and high tech finish of the Micra6 is an obvious match. The versatile mounting brackets provide a simple, sturdy solution to any type of system installation and allow for angled horizontal adjustment to aim the speakers toward the listening area.Act quickly. Supply is limited on this GREAT deal!

4Great for the price
By D. Gonsman
All the reviews I read were right on, these speakers do just fine as an entry level surround system for dvds/movies but aren't as good for music cds. Don't get me wrong for the price I don't think you can beat it. I have these speakers set in a 20x15 room, powered by sony surround receiver. System works and sounds great. Speakers are easy to mount to the wall or where ever you want. Athena makes some stands for the speakers but the wife didn't like them so they're gone but speakers are small enough to go anywhere. So far my only negative comment would be that at times dialog sounds faint like it's coming from inside a box. This might be my fault since the TV we have does not have a large enough and flat top to place the center speaker so I mounted it slightly behind and above the TV.

5Excellent speakers for the $. None better !!!
By Digitaltim
I paired these speakers with a 7.1 pioneer receiver and it sounds great! I added 2 rear surround satellites to get the 7.1. Total cost with speaker stands is about $800, which isn't bad considering how good they sound. I'm a surveillance / audio video technician and I install Bose Lifestyle systems at work. This setup sounds far better than the much more expensive Bose systems. I've previously had the all in one box systems. This is a huge upgrade. I set the system up in half of our living room which is very large. Our house is timber built / post and beam. the walls, ceilings, and floors are wood. Luckily it works well for sound. I had to purchase speaker cable, because the included cables just aren't long enough for larger rooms. I'm immediately drawn in to the movies now. Voices are clear..sounds great!! I listen to music every day now that I have satellite radio......again-->no complaints. I do not crank up the base like some people prefer.......I keep it at around 3 on the subwoofer. I did crank it up just to find a comfortable listening level and I noticed it can be boomy, but what do you expect at this price range? At the comfortable base levels I use it sounds great to me. I read many reviews from many audio sites as well as user reviews and forums. I researched both speakers and receivers. The receiver makes a difference in sound too. At first I was leaning towards a custom system in the 3K range. I'm glad I didn't spend that much. These were rated the best for the $550 price range and are said to sound as good as systems costing 2k plus. Its true. The black ones can be bought for much less than the silver. FYI: do some research on how to setup and balance your speakers to get the most out of them.

5Exceeded all of my expectations
By E. G. Guzman Jr.
I auditioned the Micra 6 system against the Infinity TSS-750 set and had trouble deciding which way to go. Researching and reading numerous reviews of both systems turned things into a dead heat. The Micra 6 system went on sale and it was an offer that I couldn't refuse. I can't say enough good things about this speaker system, the highs and mids come through warm and the center speaker had less of a hollow sound when compared to the Infinity center speaker. The sub's range is tuned well to the satellites and gives an almost seemless feel to the overall range. Team this system with a quality receiver and you will not regret owning these guys.

This thing is absolutely amazing! You get that fabulous warm and fat tube tone for a cheap price. It will turn your solid state amp into a monster. Effect tones are subjective so check out my Silver Dragon mp3 sound clips at www.audiogig.com/stratdude.agg This thing works great for me.

3Good pedal at full throttle
By R. Winston Krause
I like the pedal for doing heavy metal / punk or leads at full throttle. The pedal tends to compress the signal and does not sound as good as other distortion peds when u back off the volume for cleaner rhythm and lead work. The dial names can be a bit confusing till you've gotten the hang of using it. My band does a large variety of original work. So I use the pedal on the heavier songs but I tend to rely on my amps heavy gain channel for crunchy rhythms and cleaner leads. I've been using a Fender Hot Rod deluxe with a Celsetion vintage 30 speaker. I've been combining the pedal with hi-gain channel when I want to get a lead out over top the din. It adds a nice punch without degrading the signal beyond listenable standards, which happens quite often when combing distortion peds.

5Good quality
By Dr Mike
Most people really don't need this, but I purchased it due to some vision issues that are coming on as I get older. Being able to integrate images from both eyes can be helpful in improving apparent contrast and reducing eyestrain in older folks. However, buying this also means having to invest in an extra set of eyepieces, so this is a luxury and not a necessity. I suppose being a luxury could be said about having a telescope system in the first place! The bottom line is that this will not make a tremendous difference for most people, but it will make a difference for those people who feel uncomfortable or limited with monocular viewing. Having been an observer most of my life, I knew the time had come to buy this. The build quality is very good and I have no complaints. Be aware that you will have to rebalance your telescope when you use this, so while that is not a big deal, it does need to be done. Also this viewer can get into the way of your mount, so you may need to remove it before using a computer controlled slewing system. Otherwise it could possibly smack into your mount, which would not be a good thing.

5Excellent product
By Werner R. Vielman
I am a novice nightsky watcher, I found that one eyepeaces strained my eyes very quickly, limiting the extended of my viewing sesions. I than order the Binocular Viewer and immidiatly felt the relief in my eyes especially since the eyepeaces can be adjusted to different widths. I highly recomended.

5Great product!
By Dave Cecil
I'm just a beginner with my telescope, so I don't know of a lot of the little things that experts say about this product. All I know it is great looking at the moon and planets with what amounts to a very powerful set of binoculars! I also love the soft rubbery feeling of the housing.

5Great Spotting Scope
By Hiker
This is a great spotting scope for the money. It has a nice field of view and excellent optics. I have used it for both birding and wildlife and find that it works equally well for both. It is minimally useful for celestial viewing. The included carrying case makes it convenient for field use and the lifetime waranty cannot be beat. Highly recommend.

4A Winner in this Price Range
By AUgie the Prospector
Nov '08: Update - Used the Ultima 80 at 500 yds (laser verified) to view a target. .270 caliber holes were easily visible in the white & in the black (green hit revealing, probably not so visible in "plain" black?). Target was in full late-day sun. I got a brief look through an Ultima 80 a couple of years ago and liked what I saw, then recently bought one for my son and spent more time with it, including a comparison to a couple of other inexpensive scopes. This may be the best cheap spotting scope for the money out there. Look over at my review of the C70 Mini Mak to see the Ultima 80 stacked up against it, linked below (or look at my "other reviews" to find it).Celestron 52238 C70 Mini Mak Spotting Scope Since that review I've had another session with it, so I'll just add some additional comments here. I've read that a good scope should allow reading of a license plate at 1/2 mile (880 yds), and a great scope should reach out to a mile (1760 yds). My C70 review relates a successful test with the Ultima 80 at over 640 yds, so I'm pretty sure that good eyes (my son) would reach 1/2 mile reading a plate. I tried at about a mile (could have been a bit over), and couldn't do it. Could my son? Next time I'm up there I'll have him try. So for now on this test, call it a good scope, but maybe not great. I compared it to an old Russian 20-30X50mm in the other review and found it clearly better. What I didn't say is that the old Russian is the equal of other cheap 60mm spotters I've tried, in a careful comparison. So the Ultima 80 is a definite step up from them. Another test I did recently involved comparing on a shipping label, with addresses, UPC codes, etc, in several size type faces at 100yd. This happened kind of accidently at the range. I then reproduced the test later with another scope at home. Scopes compaired: new Ultima 80, a very old 90mm Meade ETX (a mirror scope), and a few year old Swarovski 80mm. The ETX was done later, but my impression was that in resolution it was comparable to the Ultima 80 (I used an eyepeice that gave about 35X on the ETX, and had the Ultima 80 zoomed between 40X and 60X). Here was the surprise: the Swarovski didn't obviously beat the Ultima 80 for simple resolution! I looked through these one after the other, same conditions. The 80mm Swarovski focused a little nicer (body focus ring vs Ultima 80's knob), but that was it. The Swarovski was in a rock-solid, clamped-down mount, showed a little handling wear, but looked well cared for. The owner said he paid WAY over 10X the price of the Ultima 80. There is an ED version of the Ultima 80, but the Swarovski was "equaled" by the cheepo glass version. My conclusion: my 60 year old eyes probably aren't good enough to benefit much from the superior optics of the Swarovski, at least under the circumstances of that moment. Supposedly Celestron's mfg (Sinta?) uses a trick to get good performance out of the non-ED glass version. The dispersion is flat, but not for the entire range of colors. It goes abruptly whacky in the violet, smearing that out to an unnoticable haze, while leaving the rest of the spectrum in good focus. This cheat yeilds a good looking image under most viewing conditions, and good apparent resolution and low color fringing. So the Swarovski IS better, just in ways that aren't immediately noticeable under many viewing conditions, or with less that hawk-eyes. My advice: buy one of these quick, before Celestron screws it up by changing their Chinese contract mfg. They've been making them good for years, but you watch, one of these days they'll try to save 37 Cents and ruin it.

5Celestron Ultima 80 Spotting Scopes
By Michael J. Schnepf
I use this scope on an almost daily basis for competive archery or for checking surf conditions at the beach. Easily assembled, water-proof and packing a lifetime warranty from Celestron in Torrance, CA the ultima 80 is a great scope for competive archery, shooting, nature & bird watching or urban sightseeing. I own both the straight and 45 degree angled model and have matched both with the Slik Pro 700DX AMT tripod that is rock solid stable and can easily hold 15 pounds with a detatchable quick release. An excellent combination for long range viewing in windy conditions. At 90 meters I can zoom in to just the gold ring on the target to refine my shots. The scope itself is very well made, optically bright and forgiving for those of us who are very nearsighted and must wear glasses. The scope comes very well packaged with the eyepiece in its own small case inside the main box. Both lense caps are provided. An over the shoulder nylon case is also provided. These scopes provide excellent performance for the dollar. Enjoy!!!

4Great Spotting scope for the money!
By Matthew Ballingham
I recently purchased this scope to use for long range shooting. For my purposes, having to be able to see a .3" hole in paper at long distance, Quality of glss was the most important feature. I decided to order the Celestron Ultima 65 on a recommmendation from another shooter. I wasn't sure if I was going to be happy with it, since most shooters agree a much more expensive optic is needed for long range. I must say I was very impressed, as were some of the other shooters at the range. Most were competitive shooters and former military. They all thought it was "amazingly good glass" for the price. Most Spotters look good at min. magnification, but if you turn them up to full mag, they are useless. With this scope, I was able to easily see my .308 bullet holes at 200 yds and beyond. I could sometimes see hits at 300 yds if the wind was low. In my opinion that's pretty darn good for a budget spotter. The eye relief was almost non existent at 55x, but other than that, I'm very happy with this scope, and would definitely recommend it to someone who is not looking to spend $300-500 on a spotter. There are certainly better optics available, but not for this price.

5Hard to beat for the money
By M. Olson
I bought the Celestron Ultima 65 (Straight) after looking at other modestly priced spotting scopes for use while target shooting. I looked at Tasco, Bushnell, and Barska models as well. In the same $100 price range as this scope most scopes feature a 60mm objective lens and are rated for 20-60x zoom. I like the fact that this scope only tries to give you 18-55x zoom because frankly, most scopes in this price range at max zoom are nearly useless. The little Celestron is an exception however as it is completely usable at maximum zoom and I attribute that to a larger objective (65mm), better quality glass, and a more reasonable maximum rating.Viewing objects around my neighborhood I quickly decided that in bright daylight there is no doubt this scope will work just fine for me on the 200 yard rifle range that I usually shoot at. Were I shooting longer range I would not have been looking at $100 optics but as I said the scope performs well at 55x. I viewed the moon with it (a bit of a torture test for inexpensive optics) and while it certainly exhibits some color when out of focus it performed amazingly well when in focus. I noted that one does wind up right up on the glass at maximum zoom with very little eye relief (I found my eye glasses uncomfortable to use at maximum zoom) but, again, at least the image was still usable and at more modest zooms it's very comfortable to use. It comes with a T-mount adapter that will allow one to use the scope for photography and at modest magnifications with modest expectations it will work well if pressed into service for this but, frankly, you should be looking at the better ED line of scopes if you're shopping for a photographic tool. The scope is small, very light, and seems well made. The optics look to be well coated. It comes with a handy carrying case that you can zip over the scope while it is mounted on a tripod, but it does not come with any sort of tripod and others in this price range do. This is a good thing in my view because I suspect that it means that more money went into the glass and construction. In short, I was pleasantly surprised and I found this scope to be the pick of the litter when it comes to inexpensive 60-65mm objective spotting scopes that I tested. Some in this price range (or perhaps $20 less expensive) were just terrible. For the money I don't think you can go wrong with this scope but please do make sure that it's the size that you really need. If you're going to spend more time at 50-60x and less at 15-30x you may wish to spend more and get better brightness and perhaps more eye relief with another scope that features a larger objective and/or better glass.

4Okay for the price.
By R. Ochoa
This product is very well built and is light and portable. I liked that it is 5" shorter than the 80mm version and a lot more portable. The 80mm version is probably brighter and more clear. Objects are clear and fairly bright in this scope though. Digiscoping with an DSLR is not recommended in my experience. I hooked up this scope to a Canon XTi with the required adapter. There was much vignetting (the shadow circle around the photo). Also the images were very dim and blurry. It was like taking a picture through a pipe. Very inadequate pictures. So this is good for sighting in a rifle and seeing things in good lighting, most of the daytime. It has good lighting most of the time. If you want excellent light all of the time you'll have to spend hundreds more. This is a good starter scope. If you want perfection look elsewhere. This scope is good for most users most of the time. You wont get anything better in this price range in my opinion.

5Celestron SkyMaster 20x80 Binoculars
By R. Frazier
Great binoculars, perfect for multiple uses.Good Points: - Great value for the money. - good quality, great alignment - easy to use, much more portable than a telescope (and you get to use both eyes too). - 20x power really brings things in close. - work great for daytime observing as well as astronomical use.Watch out for: - as with any high powered binocular, these really magnify your motions making things appear jittery. You need to be steady or lean against something to get a clear view. - you will want a tripod for most critical uses - they are heavy, so if you hand-hold them, your arms will get tired fast.

4Collimation Easily Done
By Gary
When I received it the collimation was off. Rather than send it back and risk getting another pair that was off, I called Celestron. The "Life Time No Fault Warranty" only applies if you get it from an "authorized" dealer even though my pair was new. Which means you need to pay like $200+ for these to actually have a warranty. However I asked if I could collimate it myself even though the manual says it should only be done by a professional with specialized tools. They could not or would not tell me anything about how to collimate it. Luckily I did find some general instructions on the web and found the prism tilt screws to turn and got it perfect. You need to gently pry back the edge of the rubber hand grips to access the screws. It whole process wasn't even that difficult! I don't know why it has to be such a state secret with Celestron. Since then the binos have been wonderful and well worth the discount of buying from an "unauthorized dealer".

5great binoculars
By shopper1
I got these at a local optics store. They are fantastic, just a little heavy. When the moon is dark, and it is clear, I can get a really great view of the Beehive Cluster and a whole bunch of other Messier objects that are difficult to see in a telescope. I lie down and look straight up at the sky with them. Some star colors really jump out, yellows and reds.
