I don't remember what I paid for this function generator but I do recall that it was reasonable. Six months later, I'm very pleased with this thing. The display gives you the frequency to the hundredths digit. There is only one knob for adjusting frequency (not coarse + fine) but I find that it is sensitive enough to make the fine adjustment unnecessary. When I first bought it I didn't know how to use the sweep function, but I recently figured that out (just pull out knobs), making me even more affectionate towards my purchase.You get bang for your buck. Don't buy the overpriced BK.

This unit is very solid and nicely built, and has all the features you'd expect in this price range. But the advertised feature of "adjustable pulse width" is not quite accurate; the pulse width (in the pulse output mode) is not separately adjustable; it is merely fixed at 15% of the total period of the current frequency. The only way to adjust the pulse width is to change the frequency, which is not really an adjustable pulse width feature. I bought this unit for the specific purpose of testing a signal capture under varying pulse widths. No-can-do with this unit.That disappointment aside, I am generally satisfied with this function generator. The controls are standard and smooth, although I do miss the "fine tune" adjustment found on my dearly-departed HP digital function generator. Setting the frequency to a precise value requires holding the knob and only imagining that you are turning it. This zen-ish, mystical process usually works, but it does take patience.I tested the output signal with a calibrated freq counter and found it to be very accurate and stable. And the built-in freq counter is also reliable (and handy), and barely mentioned in the advertising. I found myself using the counter more than freq generation during my first use of the unit.The documentation is minimal, but adequate if you are familiar with function generators. But don't expect any tutorials here---do like everybody else and check out YouTube.Another disappointment is the fairly noisy cooling fan---it sounds like a PC from 1985. I suppose the cooling is required to maintain stability and accuracy, but I do find myself going "ahhhhhhhh" when I turn off the device. I doubt such cooling is really required, so I may have to do some "on-site re-engineering" to slow it down. I admit to being overly sensitive to unnecessary noise, but I really don't want this this thing hissing and whining in my office all day.So overall this is a good value it you are looking for an accurate and reliable function generator. But be ready to turn up the background music to mask the fan noise.
