My son turned 1 year old today. I just ordered this two days ago with the super saver free shipping of amazon. He loves it. His two sisters were also playing with it. Thanks Amazon for the fast delivery. Arrived in perfect condition. Assembly is super easy - just screw the leg to the table without any other gadgets except your hands and presto! Great expansion for an excellent table top game.

This expansion is a great addition to the heroscape family.It provides three very useful elements to the game system.First, the trees are gorgeous and very durable. They add both strategic line of sight blockers as well as add beauty to the battlefield.Second, The road tiles add a new element to the battlefield. Any unit that starts on the road and continues entirely on the road gain an additional +3 move. The bridge piece comes apart to provide a 5 hex road tile and 2 rock wall pieces that can be used as additional terrain.Finally, the Dumutef guard that comes with this expansion is a nice 25 pt cost figure that has 4 Attack and Defense and gains +1 to both while standing on the road. Cheap figures are important in filling out your roster, especially cheap ones with solid numbers like this!All in all, this has been my favorite expansion for Heroscape and worthy of multiple purchases. My only complaint would be the single hex trees could grip the hexes a little tighter as they can sometimes be knocked off but this is a minor complaint to an otherwise excellent product.

I got the heroscape master set for my birthday. I also got this.I had always wanted heroscape and at least one expansion set. I finally got it.I started playing with the master set first after I got the hang of it I tried it with this and it made it way more fun. This thing comes with five trees,a troll like creature,a bridge,and a set of tiles.I played it all day. This thing is incredible. Definitely something I would recommend.

Fun for the Family

I bought the Heroscape Game and 3 expansion sets (including this one) for Christmas for my 8 year old son. We brought it with us when we met with the whole family the week after Christmas. My 14 year old nephew, 9 year old nephew and 45 year old brother-in-law had a blast playing it and creating new scenarios each evening. It is a wonderfully creative game with endless possibilities and the Road/Bridge expansion kit is one of the key additions that really adds to the set. If you have to choose just one set to add, I would get this one first. The only downside is that the complex version of the game is a bit too advanced for my 8 year old, but he enjoys playing the basic version and setting up the landscapes.

I purchased the Romertopf 6 1/2 Quart Clay Baker to replace a smaller clay baker that I have had for years. Baking in clay pots is my absolute favorite way to cook roasts and chicken and this larger size allows me to cook plenty of vegetables and meat to feed by family of five at family dinners (and have leftovers). The flavors are outstanding and I highly recommend this method of cooking to anyone who hasn't tried it. You soak the clay pot, fill it up, and place it in a cold oven and turn up the temp -- then you do nothing until it is done -- it is the most tender, juicy meat you will ever eat.The pot is exactly what I expected it would be, although my old one was glazed inside and this one is not. I have used it several times already and that has not been a problem.I like it so much I am purchasing the same pot in a smaller size so I can cook dinners for two.

my favorite way to cook

this thing barely fits in my oven so it can make a big big stew. i have loved my 4 quart schlemmertopf clay pot but sometimes it's a little small for what i wnt to cook. when i saw the romertopf 6 1/2 quart i had to have it. try this: 2pound roast, 1-2 inches of water, salt, pepper, garlic, basil. cook in oven at 350 for 1 hour. add two large russet potatos cubed, 1 pound carrots, one large red onion, one large bunch of celery, all chopped, and one 16 oz. jar of a good marinara sauce (h.e.b.'s 2 dollar version is great). add water to about 1 inch from top of pot. cook for another 2 hours at 350. you don't even have to check it. this is stew like mom used to make!!!!

clay cooking during the holidays

have cooked two turkeys in this since received. wish i had bought one of these years ago. easy and quick to use. meat falls off the bone and is moist and juicy. used a standard recipe, but increased the temp. by 100 degrees and reduced cooking time by 30 minutes. fastest i have ever cooked a turkey other than by frying.easily handled a 14 lb. turkey. could go larger; specs say up to 17 lbs.only minor complaint is that if you only have one oven, the temp. is so high and the clay pot so large that it is difficult to cook sides at the same time. i used my gas grill as an oven for the side dishes.

Great TFT Monitor

I have had one of these black Sharp TFT monitors for several years now. I bought the item on a recommendation and have not been disappointed.Picture quality is great on an analogue input cable but if you attach a digital cable then great becomes superb.The picture is very bright, to the point that you have to adjust that down. Contrast is excellent as are the hues of black on screen.To date I have not seen these bettered by another TFT screen.Adjustments to the picture are easy to do, although if you have a DVI cable attached this will probably mostly be done via your graphics card.This is a well made product and just looks the part, whereas some monitors look cheaper ie the quality of the plastics simply is not up to the same standard as the Sharp. The use of quality materials means, however, that the Sharp TFT is the heaviest 17" TFT monitor that I have come across to date.I have looked at newer TFT monitors recently but none seem to give as good a picture as this Sharp and do not look as well made. Therefore, I am sticking with the Sharp. If you can find one, buy it, I think you will be very pleased with the result.

Leitz Trinovid 10 x 25 review

I have owned the Leitz Trinovid 10 x 25 binoculars for many years and rate the item highly. The optics are first-rate, and I enjoy the feature that allows the user to adjust the eyepiece for those who wear glasses. The binoculars are quite small and light and easily fit into a moderately-sized shirt or jacket chest pocket. Unfortunately the binos provide only a string-loop that can be worn around the neck. The loop is attached to only one of the binocular barrels, ruling out being able to wear the binoculars via a binocular strap. This is not a major concern, and there may be strap manufacturers that offer straps that can easily be attached to the center of the Trinovids so that they can be worn outside clothing on the chest area for easy retrieval. Fortunately, my hunting jackets have fairly large chest pockets that easily accommodate the Trinovids.I had dropped the binoculars about a year ago and was concerned that the alignment might have been affected. I sent the unit back to the company; it took about two months to complete a re-alignment and recheck of the lenses, etc., at a cost of about $125. The binoculars now operate like new.Would I buy another pair of Trinovids? Probably. If the user doesn't require particularly sharp optics, a less expensive pair might be a consideration. I wanted the best binoculars I could find for around $300 (the price has increased just a bit since I purchased the Trinovids) and decided on the Trinovids after comparing other binoculars of similar specifications. I like the compactness and quality of this model, but would probably want to add another pair that offer a wider field of view for sports car races, etc., even though it means I would have to settle for something larger and less compact.I am a person who doesn't like to skimp on quality, since my experience has been that if I buy something cheap, I end up wanting to eventually replace the item, thus wasting money. One more thing: I purchased the Leitz's over the Zeiss 10 x 25 binos merely because the Leitz binoculars seemed to have an easier center focus-adjust. Other than that, I found both brands to be identical in visual quality. I had purchased both from one of the camera companies on the east coast just to be able to compare the two, kept the Leitz's and sent the Zeiss's back.I gave these binoculars four stars only because I wish the company had provided a fixed attachment loop at the center of the binoculars, or attachments on both barrels, so as to provide for attachment of straps to keep the binoculars in place on the chest when walking. The single loop attached to only one barrel is fine, but only if the user is standing still or sitting. Walking with the loop around the neck allows the binoculars to swing all over the place, making it almost mandatory that they be worn in a pocket or hand-carried when walking.

Fine Compact Leica Trinovid Binocular, But....

The Leica 10X25 BCA Trinovid binocular will appeal mainly to hikers and other nature enthusiasts who need a compact, relatively lightweight, binocular with a narrower field of view than a wider 8x20 model. However, having handled this binocular as well as its wider 8X20 sibling, I have found that it is not nearly as bright as the rival Zeiss Victory compact binoculars, and is not nearly as easy to focus. If you are seriously thinking of purchasing this type of binocular, I would strongly recommend instead looking at the Zeiss Victory compact binoculars or their equivalents manufactured by Swarovski.

Why would someone pay $500 for a pair of Leitz binoculars when you can buy a different brand for $50? I tried these binoculars and immediately found out why. Perfect clarity, no blue haze, no fall-off at the edges, no blurryness or color fringes, these are the binoculars to own.

Maxim Large Stable with Corral

This large stable is assembled by an adult. The stalls are quite large, and my girls put more than one horse in each. They would have preferred with the size of the stable to have four smaller stalls. The loft above is a nice feature. It would be difficult to make a stable with the detail this one has both outside and inside. We are pleased.

Thomas that run and runs under his own power

If you're looking for a step up from the Brio sets or other push or wind-up Thomases, this is the best one for kids over the age of 4. Thomas' eyes go back and forth as he runs, and the set includes a power supply, Sir Topham Hat and two workers, Annie and Clarabel, two railroad workers, and a nice oval of track. The track is the same track that all of Lionel's new O-gauge sets use, so you COULD start with a Thomas railroad now, add a Polar Express railroad next year, and so on.Also, MANY, inexpensive O-scale accessories and building kits are available from companies like Bachmann (Plasticville), so a very nice railroad is possible for a fairly low sum of money. Or, use ceramic buildings from Dept. 52, Lemax, and Hawthorne Village. (The people are too big, though, except for the people that come with Hawthorne Village sets.) In other words, one set around the tree for the youngsters could grow into any of a dozen hobbies. And, let's face it, for youngsters, Thomas is probably the best introduction to trains of any kind.Paul Race, editor, Big Indoor Trains (tm)

Great entry level Lionel set!

This is a good entry level lionel set. It does comes with Lionel's cheapest 40 watt transformer which does not even have an accessory output however, so if you want to expand your set with lighted buildings, you will need to buy a new transformer. Overall a great product and good value for the money and the kids love it.

Less quality than I expected

Compared to other entry level lionel sets, this is not a good buy -- and that is too bad since Thomas is so popular. Face plate was busted and had to order another from Lionel. Shipped with two of the same passenger cars, so had to send back a car before they would send another. The couplers are flimsy and the cars seperate often. My kido has more fun with real cheap plastic Lionel passenger cars which come with internal lights and passenger profiles in the windows. No bell on the engine, not even a light!..... Not sure why Lionel doesn't up the quality to their normal starter set level, I would certainly pay the extra cost. Lionel cut too many corners on this one.
