Very easy installation - works and looks great

Got this to get a small tow trailer to get big pieces of wood home from Lowe's, and a John Deere yard tractor to the shop without a truck. Installation was easy - this is a custom tow hitch receiver for a 1999.5 - 2005 VW Jetta Sedan. Mine went on a TDI GLS.You will need to drill 5 holes through the sheet metal through your trunk, each of them need to be 3/8" (no bigger, no smaller.) So be sure you have a drill bit. After getting a 3/8" bit, everything went great - it helps if you have someone to hold the thing while you're aligning it and threading the screws (it weighs 17 pounds), but overall, it was very simple so don't be intimidated!Would recommend! Remember that this hitch receiver is WAY stronger than the sheet metal it's being bolted onto, so when it says it has a 200 pound tongue weight capacity...if you're "big boned" or simply portly, you'd be better off not jumping up and down once you have the ball mount (included in the pack) in the receiver. Also, the 2000 pound trailer weight that the hitch allows can be a bit misleading: VW recommends towing only 1000 pounds. This isn't only because the strength of the engine (my TDI has enough torque to pull a lot more), but because you need some way to STOP both the car and the trailer, and the stock brakes aren't designed to stop an extra couple thousand pounds.All in all, a good product, made in the US with readable instructions, free technical support...would buy again!

The hitch is great. It was easy to install except for one bolt on the passenger side. Had to drill a hole in the trunk for that one. If I hadn't had to do that I would have rated it a 5. Very satisfied.

fast...easy instalation

This took me about 1 hour to install on my 2000 jetta and is very well made and does not look out of place from the rear of car.
