We have owned our unit for about 5 yrs. and the battery just now needs replacing. This is an awesome deal for this workhorse of a machine! It has never failed us and saved us many times when the lights were out. I highly recommend this product for anyone. We would buy another unit if needed for another area of our home.

I've had this UPS for 5 years before the battery died. I bought a new one because I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I bought a new one because it died. The only problem is that when the power goes out it makes a loud screeching noise when its on battery mode that you cant seem to turn off. I've been woken up many times by black outs or brown outs because of the loud noise. It also weighs almost a ton, and has such an old connection to connect it to your computer that I've never been able to actually use the connection on any computers I've used it with, so that makes the monitoring software useless. Still, its a wonderful device that really lasts. Its a great thing to have in an emergency, and its great for protecting your computer from power surges and power outages!

I use this UPS to back up my on demand gas water heater (who wants to take a cold shower?) Unit works great with the water heater and gives over an hour of back-up time. I've also used this unit for computer use and it also works well. Batteries are easy to replace when they get to end of life. If I had not spilled water on the old unit (releasing magic smoke) then I would still be using it today. The old unit (ES1000C) was over 5 years old with 2 battery replacements.
