Fun Lego Duplo set for the Thomas lover

This is a good set to start with for this new Lego Duplo Thomas series. It contains the Thomas Load and Carry Set (in the same box that you would buy it in separately), a box each of straight track and curved track (which you can buy separately at Lego's website or elsewhere), a box of two points (switch-track), a bridge, and a tunnel. The points and bridge are apparently not available in this country as separate items (according to the Lego website)(and I didn't even find the tunnel on that website either), so this is the only way you're going to get them. The Thomas Load and Carry Set on its own doesn't really have enough track, and it's all curved track anyway, so you'll probably want to supplement. This is why I decided to spring for this big set right away.The track is easy to put together, as are the trains. All the "buildings" (the coal loader, train station, signal tower) incorporate regular Duplo bricks (and can be put together different ways), so if you have Duplo items already, you can work them into your layout.Of course, this is no substitute for a wooden Thomas train set - nothing is, really. This is very fun as an additional train layout for the kid who not only loves Thomas, but also loves Lego Duplo. This is the best Duplo set we have. I'm glad they're getting more inventive!

It's a Thomas!

My three-year-old little girl was so excited to open this on Christmas morning; she was beside herself (exactly the effect I was going for). I set up the tracks for her, and after she watched me put the trains together a few times, she was able to do it herself. She carries them all over the house with her and even to bed! Tonight (12/28/05) I'm going to move the tracks out of the corner. Maybe she'll like them better if there not off by themselves like that. Finally a toy we both enjoy playing with together!

It's Lego! It's Thomas! What more can you ask for?

I bought this set for my son last Christmas. There still hasn't been a day he hasn't played with it. The Thomas Load set was already fun in itself but including the bridge and the tunnel just made it incredible. We have made so many different configurations with it and has since bought James, Percy and Toby for his third birthday.Highly recommended!

A remake of the 1994 classic "Century Skyway"

This was one of the best sets in 1994, a large airport with many small features.I think the building is a little to small to be an airport, but they did a good job without exceeding $100. You get a passenger plane (It holds 4 passengers, a pilot, and about 4 suitcases in the back) a helicopter with a forklift that loads packages into it, a helicopter, a baggage truck, an octan gas truck, a control tower, a palm tree, and then the building.The eleven minifigures included are: 4 airport workers, a pilot, a policeman, a gas guy, and 4 passengers.I like the classic sets, but Lego really needs to bring back Ice Planet Deep Freeze Defender.

If you survive assembly...

watching your child lose their mind playing with it will be worth it.The directions are marginal at best and would benefit greatly from some written directions and labeling the bags and parts. I am very experienced at building RC cars and helicopters and I had to keep referring to the drawings to make sure I wasn't doing it wrong.The rear stabilizer (under the excavator seat) could be sturdier and easier to deploy, but neither seem to be a problem for our son who is going on three. It would be nice if the locks for the front end loader portion could be engaged with one hand, but it doesn't seem to take away from his enjoyment.I do recommend this product, just make sure you have enough room to store it and patience to assemble it. (hint: some of the stickers are large and very thin in order to make the curves, spray a little mild detergent diluted with water to make positioning them easier)

It's a Toy.

My Husband and I ordered this for our 5 year old son, who is obsessed with heavy equipment. After reading the review I was nervous of a couple of things,,, -Would it be big enough -Would it be sturdy -Would we be able to assemble it The answer to all these are yes. My son is not a huge kid but there is still room to grow for him, (40lbs)I can even sit on it at 120lbs and it doesn't feel well too weird, except that I'm sitting on a toy. For a toy this is very sturdy, the shiny plasticky look scared me into thinking it would be flimsy, but it is not. He does 180's with it and flips it into the air. He runs into things like mad and none of the parts bend including the attachments. Now construction, this was a shock for me to believe all the problems people were having. Now I'm open to the possibility that maybe the directions have changed since it came out. This took us less than an hour to assemble including the stickers. Now, we also were talking with German voices, and having a blast. So I think if this needed to be assembled quickly it could be done within a half hour. It was not frustrating at all for us, sure colored directions would be nice, but unnecessary. So overall I am very pleased with this purchase, oh and the shipping time was not bad at all. If anybody is concerned about ordering through here I actually ordered mine through Northerntools.com

Item great.....myTableware not great

I purchased this gravy boat for a Xmas gift. When it arrived I discovered I had ordered the saucer only. I went back on the website and there are three items listed as a Gravy Boat all with the same picture. Turns out, one can buy the saucer separately, the boat separately or the 2 items together. This is not clearly stated and as I said the 3 pictures are all of the boat and saucer together.I then ordered the separate boat and the order went through. Amazon communicated that Tableware had not confirmed the order and that my credit card had not been charged. As 30 days neared with no anticipated ship date from myTableware, Amazon advised that the order would be canceled at 30 days. At the last minute, myTableware sent an e-mail with shipment date.Amazon was fine throughout this process. myTableware was not. I had sent them a direct e-mail to check on the order and it was never answered. Lack of any sort of communication and false photos make it so I would not do business with myTableware again.

Great padding as Charcoal said. One other thing that you can use the 'divider' for is a pad to Place (drop) your bongos on the floor to keep them from getting banged up when switching to bell.The "Product Dimensions: 58 x 34 x 36 inches ; 4.7 pounds" are totally OFF!Being a little generous, Width 21" x Height 12" x 13" DepthCould be less expensive, but then nothing is inexpensive these day. It's a good buy.

Not as pictured - disappointed

I read the reviews and since most were positive, I figured I'd buy it from the photo. Unfortunately the description and photo are quite misleading. Photo makes item look super thick and plush - it's not. To send back and pay shipping is just not worth it.It's really nothing more than a mattress pad. It's not puffy and full at all. I don't know how some reviewers can say it gives life to their worn mattress. My mattress is only 2 months old but too firm.

Wow! What a difference!!

I was shopping for a mattress pad for my son, a soldier stationed in Iraq, as the worn out Army mattresses are very uncomfortable and I thought a softer top might help. Although the reviews were just so-so, I chose this mattress pad because it looked fluffier in the photo than other pads I looked at. I had the pad shipped directly to my son so I never actually saw it, and could only hope it was a good product and packed well enough to get there in one piece.I have to say I am VERY satisfied with my purchase! It arrived intact, in a timely manner and, most importantly, my son said it is "SOOO nice" it makes his bed "feel like it's full of soft cotton!" He was amazed at the difference this mattress pad made, and just knowing it makes his life a little easier over there makes it worth twice the price to me!If this mattress pad can make a lumpy old Army mattress feel like soft cotton, you know it's an outstanding product!Bottom line, you won't be sorry if you purchase this mattress pad!You'll be getting excellent quality for a great price - and finally a good night's sleep!

Great Bodyboard!

I'm 6' 3'' 300lbs and in my mid 40's. My first experience with the board was at Oahu's Sandy Beach 3-4 foot shore break (6-8 foot faces). Believe it or not my first wave was an "In and out ". That was a good sign. I could not believe the ease of catching the wave followed by the speeds I could achieve. Great "buoyancy" for someone of my "stature". I got to checkout the "Original" Bullyboard that met my size. I felt that the board was just a little wide. When I paddled my arms rubbed the rails. I also felt the board was just a little too thick. My hands could not get a good grip on the rails which meant poor control. The Poi Boy width and thickness was just right. The price was fair. I've priced other "quality" large bodyboards, 44''-45'' in length, here in Hawaii and they were over $200.00. The only complaint I have that the board arrived about 5 days late which made me nervous. I recommend the Poi Boy Bullyboard.

Yes, the steel base is fairly well made and solid, but I can't give the entire product more than 2 stars.The three issues I have with this unit are:* The wheels are really cheap. I expect I'll be changing them out before long.* The brakes for the wheels are very poor engineering. Yes they work, but come on is this the best the POWERMATIC engineering staff can come up with? In this instance I am using the term engineering loosely!* The price charged for this item is out of line with the quality of the materials and quality of the manufacturing. This item is more along the lines of a HF unit selling for $29.99.To my fellow rater, "No it isn't you. One expects a level of quality above the rest when they purchase a POWERMATIC product, unfortunately for the consumer POWERMATIC did not deliver that with this product!"Yes, it could be better, but it's not and because it's POWERMATIC it should be better!

Getting around

This base is designed to fit the curved front base of the Powermatic 14" bandsaw. In use, it handles the weight of the saw and rolls very smoothly. That is of course what it is suppose to do, but I couldn't give it 5 stars.The wheel locks go from inconvenient to absurd. The large swivel caster has a lever on it but it is not designed to be foot activated. This style lock on a power tool is a bit out dated. The absurd comes when you look at the locks on the other two wheels. What you get are a thumb screws that get tightened against the tread of the tire. I know Fred Flintstone stopped his car by dragging his feet ... but come on Powermatic, this is not a cheap base!

Well Made But Has Issues

This mobile base is well made and solid, but I can't give it more than 3 stars.My biggest issue with it may not actually be the fault of the base. It's that the bandsaw rocks a bit. This could be the cabinet or the mobile base, but since they're supposed to be manufactured to work together, it's not a forgivable sin. Wedging shims in the corners has pretty much solved the problem, but I don't think I should have to do that with a premier tool like this.The other issue I have is with the two non-swivel wheel locks. Simply a threaded bolt (with a knob) that contacts the wheels to lock them. It works fine but to me seems like cheesey engineering.Other than that, the base does what it's designed to do.Nonetheless, maybe it's just me, but I expected more from this product.
