A sharp watch
By Isuedeadbeats
This is a great watch for dress or casual wear. The photo does not do it justice. The silver areas are very shiny. The gold parts are not dark yellow; the gold color is muted and reflecting.

Elusive replacement band
By mobilehifi
This is an excellent watch because of it's reliability and simplicity. The only reason for the four star rating is the clasp. I received this exact same watch as a gift in about 2007. After four years, the spring in the clasp broke and could not be repaired. After searching for a replacement band for months (including from Seiko directly), I gave up. I liked this watch so much that I ordered this one through Amazon just to replace the bandHopefully the clasp wont be an issue this time. The band is fairly unique. (Therefore, the replacement band, if it exists, would have probably been about the same price as this entire watch.) No generic bands that I could find would fit it either. The watch itself deserves five stars.

Do Not Buy This Watch or Anything from KG Co.!
By Kingsley R. Browne
Do not buy this watch if you care anything about water resistance, and do not buy anything from KG Company. I bought one of these watches in February. Although it is supposed to be water resistant to 50 meters, a short foray in a four-foot swimming pool left it full of water and not working. It was within the 30-day return period, so I returned it. Having always had good experiences with Seiko watches, I attributed the failure to the inevitable occasional lemon that any manufacturer might produce and ordered another one. This time, I went into a five-foot-deep swimming pool (although the watch was probably never more than 1-1/2 to 2 feet underwater), and it immediately filled up with water and stopped working. Unfortunately, by this time, it was a few days after the 30-day return period had elapsed, so I contacted the Amazon seller (KG Company) and told them what happened.I got the following response from KG: "50 WR is not for the swimming..it's a splash resistant..if you want the watch for swimming you have to look for 100m WR, for diving -200m WR." They also quoted the following from the "product specification" on the Amazon page: "Water resistance 50 meters (150 feet): It is wearable around household sinks, while playing sports, and in shallow water. It should not be worn while scuba diving." I responded that I WAS in shallow water, and I was NOT scuba diving and asked what the 50-meter specification meant if not that it was safe in that amount of water. I then got a response telling me that I should Google "water resistance" and quoting something, apparently from some internet search that they had done, stating in essence that what sales people tell you about water resistance is not to be believed.I then responded that I should not have to do a Google search to find that the product descriptions on the website are inaccurate and asked what the 165-foot figure meant if not that it was safe up to that depth and asked if they were going to give me a refund. Their response was, "The description was set by Amazon...if you have any complaints about - you can contact them." Then they told me that I could always contact Seiko and make a warranty claim. (The Seiko website says that a 5BAR watch is suitable for swimming). This is the kind of thing that has always made me reluctant to buy things from online auction sites and to prefer to buy things from Amazon. Now, I feel that, at least with Amazon sellers (though not Amazon itself, with whom I've always had good experiences), you take the same chance as you do with anonymous sellers on the auction sites.
