A Winner

I bought this watch to replace the exact same model I bought in 1983 and wore for 23 years with satisfaction. It ran faultlessly through countless batteries, straps, droppings on floor and splashings. I finally got it wet once too often and moisture seeped into the case and corroded it. I couldn't find one locally and turned to Amazon. Be aware that several vendors on Amazon's website show the Seiko SWZ156 for similar prices, but only Amazon's picture shows the face as dark. All the others show a light gray or off-white face. (Even Amazon DESCRIBES the face as gray.) When I queried them they said I had to take the watch as pictured and they couldn't check the accuracy. So I bought it from another vendor and paid for shipping, which I wouldn't have with Amazon. Don't be fooled by the list price. Noone asks for that price. Oddly I paid about the same in 1983. (I still have the sales slip.)You can't go wrong with this watch.

Beautiful watch - for the petite...

This watch is really beautiful. I have worn Seiko watches for decades, and never had a problem with this, but this watch is really small. From the photo, it looks proportionate to the other Seikos I already own. I did not connect the metric measurements to equate to such a miniaturized version ... my mistake. If you are petite with tiny wrists, this watch would be a good choice.

An adequate watch for a troubled age.

With the war in Iraq, corruption in government, holes in the ozone layer, and similar catastrophes occupying our concerns, it's refreshing to find a plain old watch that is reliable and practical.I had a similar watch for more than 8 years and was disappointed to find that the model was no longer available from Seiko. I went with this watch instead. It looks great, classy and understated, and is thin enough to slide under my buttoned shirt cuffs. Both (I actually bought two so I will have a spare) watches keep great time.The only flaw that I can think of is that the "radiant" material on the hands is pretty much inert. You can't read this in the dark under normal conditions.My boss has a nice $2000 Rolex, but I believe this is a much more attractive watch overall. Besides, I just can't bring myself to wear $2000 (or even $200) on my wrist.

A beautiful watch

This watch is really great. The face is a nice deep blue, and the band is a shiny silver. The watch works great, and feels like a real metal watch (unlike some that just feel like cheap plastic). The face is small and feminine, but also very professional. It doesn't feel too heavy, nor is it so light that you don't notice it while wearing it. My only complaint is this: There is no second hand. While this is a rather insignificant detail, some people prefer having a second hand. But there is an upside to everything, and in this case it is that there is no annoying ticking sound. My old watch used to drive me crazy at night when i was trying to sleep, even when I wasn't wearing it!Overall, I feel that this watch is wonderful. =]

Stainless Seiko Bangle Watch

I just received the watch, it was exactly as described and pictured. Solid construction, but it fits a larger wrist. I will be taking out two of the links, but it doesn't look too difficult to accomplish.

Great Watch

I bought this watch for my wife's birthday, and now she only takes it off to shower or bathe the baby. She normally does not wear jewelry, but she will not let this out of her sight. Also, the people that sent it to her got it to her in plenty of time for her birthday, which is a really hard thing for a soldier in Iraq to do anything on time for someone stateside. Small and Durable: A Watch!

I received this watch as a gift (after I pointed it out to my family in a large retail store), and I have to say: Kudos to Seiko for making a durable watch!PROS -1. The battery life on this thing is none that I have experienced before in a watch. I have owned this watch for almost 3 years now and I have only needed to change the battery once! The only downside is that because it is such a name-brand watch, you can't take it to Wal-Mart or some low-end battery store to get the battery replaced, you have to go either back to the retail shop or to a special battery store to get the watch batter replaced.2. I personally destroy watches. Normally my family has to get me one every year because I like to wear it loose and I hit is against a lot of things (and use it as a fidgeting focal point...). This watch I have to say has held up perfectly against me wearing it. Of course there are a few scratches (ok a lot of scratches) on the watch face itself, but you can still read the time.3. The watch fits perfectly to my wrist. I have tried to go with other watches that are more 'solid' and don't move around the wrist, like the ones with a solid piece of silver that stays rigid. I just can't get used to those. This watch is perfect, each link is individual and moves fluidly around the wrist and conforms to it no matter what position your wrist is in.CONS -1. Cleaning is a bummer because of the individual links on the watch band itself. It is pretty difficult to bend the watch this way and that in order to clean it properly and get in between each of the individual links.2. The clasp itself wore out pretty quickly. I looked down one day about 6 months ago and noticed that it was hanging by the tiny clasp part itself, that it had come unlatched!! This has happened a few times when I'm being especially rough to it or whatnot, but I've just taken it upon myself to check the watch and make sure I have it securely fastened around my wrist at intervals throughout the day. Also, unless they invent scratch-proof glass (oh wait, they do, why don't they put this on watches again??), then my watch face will always look like I've taken a pair of scissors to it after a year.I would definitely recommend this watch to someone who hits their watch frequently against objects or someone who destroys them after a year. I just like a watch that I can wear daily and not worry about it (except when I want the time of course), and this one is perfect for what I am using the watch for. There are a few times that because the links are so fluid, when I set it wrong on the counter or something after I take it off, it sometimes falls off right away. Overall, a great watch for the price!

nice but a bit floppy strap

This looks pretty - My boyfriend (and now fiance) gave it to me as a birthday gift but warning: the strap can either be too tight or floppy depending on your wrist size. The jeweler was only able to adjust it according to the individual links (removing a certain number).

Wonderful Watch

I'm glad i listened to these reviews. I do have a somewhat large wrist for a woman and it is VERY tight. So, I contacted Seiko USA and they are mailing me 2 extra links free of charge. Thanks Seiko!!! This is a wonderful watch. I highly recommend it ...very attractive. Also, honestly I saw this on sale at a major department store for twice the price. I feel like a smart shopper !

I have been thinking to purchase this watch for myself for a while. But previous reviews made me very cautious... It's on sale with very good price since last week, so I decided to get it.Very glad that I have this watch now. It is very elegant, thin and light, roman numerals are clear and stylish. Its style copies from the famous Cartier Tank . One of my aunts has one, but I often had trouble to figure out the numerals(4,5,6,7,8) which are too bold and close... I don't have problem on this Seiko watch and it didn't cost me much.I have very small wrist, so I only purchase leather strap watches for myself (saving the energy to "fight with" the stainless steel links). I don't see the band is too long, but it is a bit plasticy (probably the chemical treatment for alligator embossed). Hopefully it will be softer after I start to wear it.
