Great for Cooling Home Theater Components

This unit can be controlled remotely, either thru a Logitech Harmony controller or with the remote that comes with the fan. The Logitech Harmony 900 automatically creates buttons for controlling fan speed, oscillation, mode and power up/down. Slick! I like the fact that the fan issues a confirming beep upon startup and shut down, so even when controlled from a different room you can listen and confirm that it started up or powered down. Can also be set to oscillate and has it own built in shutoff timer. Mine has worked reliably for nearly two years.

Awesome fan!

My review will be short and simple. This is a great fan. It really is much quieter than regular fans. Yes, a big 12" spinning blades fan will push more air, but not a LOT more air, not enough to justify their noise over this unit. I can have it much closer to me and still hear the TV.The remote is great. It was a breeze to set this up with my Logitech remote, except I couldn't figure out what button was being assigned the toggle on/off function. (Turns out it was the Channel Up and not the Power button, so I just made a custom button on the display.)The stand seemed overly complicated to put together. There's three different sizes of screws to join everything together, but even then it didn't take long.And yes, the beeping every time you turn it on and off is insanely annoying! That's the only reason this doesn't get five stars.

amazing fan

I use this fan at work when it gets hot, it really does the job. I have the Lasco one (I believe lasco makes all of these, stanley, etc.) [...] and am considering buying a few more. Great for indoor exercise

For those looking for a fan to keep you cool while you crank out the stationary miles on your indoor bicycle trainer this is a GREAT unit. Because it is directional it creates a very realistic simulation to riding on the road. The best part is that it really works to keep you cool. No more sweat dripping on your bike. The noise factor is good as well. It's still easy to listen to TV or iPod while you ride. I highly recommend this unit for those that work out and hate the constant sweat dripping off your face. This helps to make indoor training, dare I say it, "fun".

A Great product

I was impressed with how quite this unit is and it does move a lot of air. The up and down adjustment on the blower is very smooth. I have had two other fans of this type, one being from Air King. This fan is by far the best one yet. Its a little more in cost but well worth it.

The Air KIng 14" High Velosity Fan

The reason I made this purchase is I needed a floorfan I could throw in the window to ventilate the house on milder days. I also wanted a fan made here in America. The fan performs its job effectively and has a totally enclosed ball bearing motor. Because of this motor you can operate this fan in dirty environments without concern, and with ball bearings this fan will probably last 20 years or more with seasonal usage.I would highly recommend this fan to anybody.

USA made blast of air

I needed another fan for my upstairs condo and when I went shopping, I was sorely disappointed at the decline of Lakewood and Patton. Seems making something cheap with underpaid slave labor is more of a priority than making a quality product. I tried to find the Lakso model and after discussion with them, I learned it was discontinued. Oddly, it is listed on their website.Thanks to google, I found Air King, basically a Lasko company and I orderd this fan.It arrived in fine shape and upon opening the box, I was impressed at the quality and fine craftsmanship. The motor is a totally enclosed PSC ball bearing unit. It is quiet, ie no bearing noise but very powerful for its size. The blades are statically balanced all metal that move air quite smartly.The 9 foot cord is a 3 prong ground type connected to the motor which has 3 speeds. Each speed is distinctive with low being quiet enough for a nice breeze w/o drowning out the tube.The head assembly will pivot 90 degrees and this fan can be configured as a hassock fan picking up cool air from the floor and moving it throughout the room.The grill can be removed by taking out 6 screws with a phillips screwdriver. My only complaint is the air king logo plate is rather large and can block some air flow but the blade design offsets this.If you want something that will last, this is the fan to have. It certainly is not cheap. But good quality never is.

I looked hard to find a replacement for my old Cinni Fan, and bought this Air King because of other reviewers comments---that it was the only good, durable, quality Made in America product available. It has met all my concerns---powerful, well made, and quiet enough at the lowest speeds to use in the kitchen, dining and family areas of my house! I have had no need yet for the highest speed. Buy it! You will like it!

Only US made 18" high velocity floor fan left

For those looking in vain for a steel blade high quality 18" high velocity floor fan, this is it. I have had the old Pattons and Lakewoods and they were great, but now they are both made in China from cheap materials and they are crap. I just got the Air King and it is built like a tank. It moves more air and makes less noise than any similar fan I have had before.

You can never be too thin or too rich...

I bought it. Very good fan, sturdy, good finish and coating, rather slim (for an air circulator) and well designed, but,(and unfortunately there is a but...) very noisy, it roars like a P38 fighter from WWII, it also displaces a huge amount of air like the P38, but way too noisy. I don't regret the fact that I bought it, but it is going to end in my workshop and let's see who makes more noise, this fan or my unisaw. Hey, who knows? maybe the fan wins!!! It just a joke. Again, good but too noisy.

I had no idea the huge amount of air that the Air King 9118 floor fanAir King 18-Inch 3,190 CFM 3-Speed Pivoting Floor Fan #9218 can move. On it's lowest setting it is like sticking your head out of a car window as the car travels at 35 mph. This is not a product for home or office unless you nail down light objects as paper and plastic bags etc. I use the lowest setting possible and still get tropical force winds. Because it is moving so much air it sounds like a small plane taking off. Using the two next highest settings creates a high noise level that is unbearable in a house or small office. For industrial use only!! Try 1300 cfm for a home. Dick

Very good fan-doesn't rust.

I have two of these fans which run 24 hours/day in a greenhouse. Other fans start to rust within about 3 months, and after a year the grills are falling apart and the fan is useless (even though the motor still works). In the greenhouse, I water for about 3 minutes each day, and the fans do get some water on them. The first fan has been there for about 1.5 years, and still works fine, and NO RUST. This is a very good fan, even though it is a little pricey.

Air King Floor Fan 9220

We purchased this fan for use in our church's parish hall, specifically to work in conjunction with the air conditioning. It does an excellent job, even on the low setting; on medium and high, it creates a virtual wind tunnel. It's not whisper-quiet like smaller fans intended for household use, but neither is it as loud as many of the other commercial fans we looked at. Solidly built (and made in America - always a plus!), this fan is exactly what we were looking for. If you need something that will circulate air in a large room, the Air King 9220 would be a fine choice.

Good enough

We have three of these fans in a server room to blow air around a dead spot, they move allot of air but are not balanced well and if they are not strapped into place they will soon vibrate themselves across the room. We've had them for over two years and one is now dead. The vibration overcame the strength of the metal cage around the fan blade and at points around where the motor is attached to the cage the bars have snapped. So after 15,000 hours the motor is still fine but it is no longer attached to the cage. Time for a new fan.

Nice medium-duty, versatile clamps

I find these clamps to be the ones that I pick up first out of my Bessey assortment, unless I need the K-series for something more heavy-duty. The bar tends to flex when you really bear down, but they are relatively easy to use. I find the reverse operation quite indispensable for spreading assemblies when gluing, and the padded jaws can be a real asset. The only concerns I have so far is the bars are getting a bit nicked up with use, but that doesn't seem to effect the operation; and they can be a little difficult to release if you must access them from an awkward position. Highly recommended.

Lightweight, Strong, and Safety Rated

I bought this helmet for use in my work as a Union Stagehand & Rigger/Climber. I wanted one with a chin strap, after witnessing somebody whose helmet dropped off their head in a fall- they got hurt badly even tho they fell only a few feet- because they landed on their head and their hard hat fell off. I also like this helmet because it carries an approved Safety Rating, so there are no arguments against it at work. I also like the vents, which you can slide closed if you have to work outdoors in cooler weather. As a climber, i am often in tight places and this helmet has taken many bumps that my head might have taken had i not been wearing it. Yes, it is pricey, but how can you put a price tag on something that will either save your skull or perhaps even your LIFE? You have a $10.00 head? Then getcherself a $10.00 helmet. You wanna show up looking like a pro? Then go for the Petzl Vertex Vent Helmet.
