Lund Ford Ranger Tonneau- Be careful about model number

Lund has made it very difficult to ascertain the correct cover model for certain vehicles and Amazon is stuck giving out bad information. There are three models of the Lund tonneau cover made for Ford Rangers: (1)the 95013 model is for long bed trucks(7 foot); (2)the 95014 model is for short bed trucks (6 foot) BUT NOT all shortbed trucks; (3)the 95015 model is for the "Flareside" (interpret: "stepside") and Splash models of Ford Rangers.If you input information into Amazon about your truck, even specifying it is a Splash or "flareside", they will tell you the 95014 is the proper model: NOT true. If you input the 95015 and ask if it will fit, Amazon says it will NOT.I ordered the 95015 for my Ford Ranger "flareside" truck and it fits perfect. I am pleased with the purchase but could have done without all the research I had to do and then ordering a top Amazon said would not fit.

Very easy to install

It really is a breeze to put on/take off. There is a danger the clamps could rip the cloth if handled carelessly, but otherwise very well designed. It is a little more bowed than the pictures show.

Very Good Cover Overall

All the reviews on the tri-cover were quite good. They all operate pretty much the same way. The only difference I found between models was the open/close latch near the tailgate. The Lund is fairly straight forward and works well. The only minor issue I had was were Lunds frame rests on the front side of the cab (behind rear window). There was a small gap on my Ford Ranger cab because the Lund frame rests on the 'over the cab' plastic moldings. Lund does include additional tape to attach to the frame, but it still does not close the gap completely. Having said all that..there wasn't any real noticable leakeage inside the cab. Overall..I'm very pleased with the cover.

Lund Trifold Bed Cover on 2008 Ranger - Ehhhhh..... I guess it's OK

Ehhhhh....... I guess it's OK. Price on Amazon was about $50-$70 less than anywhere else I found, and they gave free shipping so kudos to Amazon. Appears to have been drop shipped directly to me by Lund (what I expected). Ordered on Saturday - arrived 4 days later on Wednesday, so shipping was fast. Installed VERY easily on a 2008 Ford Ranger in only a few minutes. Functionality is great, and will be very easy to use even in the Winter (why I bought it instead of a roll-up snap cover like I have had in the past) - except I worry about the tailgate being so tight past the Lund Trifold cover (when opening and closing) that it will eventually put rub marks on the paint - but maybe it will be OK.. too early to tell. I feel the fit is marginal on the Ranger, as the box is not exactly square and the Lund Trifold cover appears to be exactly square - but it is not really noticeable unless you are looking for it............. so much for a custom fit. After driving it 25 miles on a 50°F morning, the cover was stretched a bit from wind pushing down on it and the cover appeared wrinkled when I stopped (never saw this on my snap cover) - I assume this will go away when it heats up again or maybe after the truck just sits for a while (not in the wind). I am also concerned about water getting underneath the cover since the seal is sponge rubber on the aluminum frame against the top of the bed - but only time will tell. I am neither satistfied nor dissatified with this cover at this point. I can say that if I had bought it locally and paid full price I would return it. However, since I paid much less than full price, since shipping was free, and since it would be a hassle to return it - I will keep it and hope for the best. I'll try to post a video of the fit on my 2008 Ford Ranger and other issues that I brought up Lund 95014 Genesis Tri-Fold Latching Tonneau Cover.

Follow Up to Original Review - A Great Cover After 1.5 Years

Follow up to original review. I have now had this cover for 1.5 years. Cover still stretches when driven and then tightens back up just like new each time it sits for a while (faster when warm). Not much water ever gets underneath, even at the automatic carwash. Never any damage to paint on tailgate - eventually loosened up a bit when closing the tailgate. All in all, I really have grown to appreciate this cover. It is EXTREMELY functional and I'm really glad that I have it. I would now give it a 5-star rating. Price sure seems to have gone up a lot!!

It Is very compact, I use it to charge boat battery. Very easy to set up on boat. Can store in boat when not charging by rolling it up.Seems a little high priced,but probably because of its compact size.

Very heavy duty, nice bike

I purchased this bike for my son's 4th birthday last year (2007). The construction is very heavy-duty and a year later it is still a good size for him. He is a little on the destructive side but this bike shows no evidence of that. It is still in great shape. I bought my daughter a bike from Wal-Mart and the John Deer bike is of much more solid construction. We are very pleased with the quality of this bike.

2 tries..Not welded straight!

My husband and I ordered this bike for our turning 4 son. After my husband assembled it we realized that the handlebars wouldn't align with the tires. The handlebars were crooked horizontaly on the frame as well as the frame itself. We exchanged it for a 2nd one. After assembling, the front tire now sat sideways on the frame. Once again, there was an incorrect alignment when the frame was welded together. We ended up going to a local store and finding a bike that had the same heavy duty frame but was constructed properly and 1/4 the cost. We also didn't have to assemble a 3rd bike.

Great Present!

My 7 year old son is John Dear crazy. This bike was expensive, but the quality is great. On cheaper bikes we've bought for his brothers at big box stores the training wheels have bent easily, this bike is heavy duty all around. Well worth the money. BTW if you have a JD fan at your house, a vacation trip to Moline IL. to the factory and headquarters is cheap and family friendly.

Easy assembly, can't get my son off of it

Most of the bike is already assembled, which makes guys with limited mechanical skills feel like they accomplished something once complete! No "extra" parts! The quality of the bike is great. My son will outgrow it before he breaks it for sure. Bright colors, and a different look than the other bikes in this category. I believe that the top cross bar on the frame is made to look like a piece of a tractor as well. My son (almost four, average height) says the bike is made out of tractor parts. An added bonus! The bike is heavy, and at first I thought that might be a problem, but I've come to believe the weight counterbalances an otherwise top-heavy situation and is less prone to tipping while turning. No complaints. My son loves it, and I'm very happy with it as well, after all I did put it together ;)

Cute and heavy duty but....

It doesn't lie when they say this bike is heavy duty!! I was surprised at how much it weighed. The only problem I had was the front forks were welded on at an angle that wouldn't allow the front wheel to slide into place. We are lucky enough to have a friend who welds and fixed it for us, otherwise we would have had to send it back. After we got it put together the bike worked out perfect for our 3 year old!

Pretty good

I wouldn't recommend this a actual safety equipment, but it's not too bad. It does look authentic and seems to offer some pretty good protection, but I certainly wouldn't trust my life with it. As a child's novelty toy, I have no issue with it. Seems to be well made. My son hasn't destroyed it yet, so that is a good sign. Woven cloth straps (think seat belt), but plastic snaps. The front part of the mask is pretty rigid, but the back part is some cheap looking plastic. If you child is looking for a novelty role play type of toy that offers a bit of protection, then get this. If you are looking for genuine safety equipment look for other options.
