1terrible

Don't waste your money on this! This bag gets pillow soft from the center up and rock hard from the center down after using it for less than a month. I'm throwing mine away and buying a UFC heavy bag based on reviews on their website.UPDATE 9/25/2011:I have owned the UFC heavy bag for a long while now and would highly recommend it over this one. It was well worth the extra cash.

3Heavy and Solid, but patches of hard sand
By P. BENNETT
It's a good heavy bag, and it feels very durable. However there is one section that is packed hard, like sand. I've been pounding it with a small weight, but it's not going anywhere. I assume Sports Authority stored it laying on its side, and the sand seeped to the lowest point. I'm hoping the sand will seep back to the bottom, and I'm doing my level best to send it on its way. However, the uneven density of the bag has caused me several small injuries.UPDATE: The hard points never softened up. I marked them with tape and I avoid the hard spots.

5so much fun to punch!
By L. Reda
I bought this as an xmas present for my husband. with stress i thought it would be fun to take it out on the bag. I had it shipped to a friend's house (for the surprise xmas present) when i saw the box it was shipped in i was worried, it was beat up badly, there were big holes and gaps at the top and bottom of the box - however the bag itself was not damaged in shipping which is unreal if you saw the box! it is heavy (duh) over 100lbs, so it is tough to move around alone. i got the recomended heavy bag hanger and it was very simple to install. The bag is great, so much fun to punch, i'm getting my own gloves! make sure you hang it away fom other things, as it tends to swing a little and does need to be attached to a very secure wood beam. i love the design of this bag more than the others i looked at, as the webbing instead of the metal chains is truly more quiet and makes for a better product in my opinion, without all the rubbing of the metal on the bag. the bag does have spots that are harder than other spots, down lower is much harder to hit than up high. Looking forward to learning more about technique and cardio boxing workouts.

5Great safety accessory.
By Allen J. DeWeese
I am using this fin on my SUP board, including for surfing. Also have them (thrusters) on my surfboards. Performance indistinguishable from glass fins. Why use them? Just check out some pictures online of fin injuries. I recently landed on my butt on the fin, tore my wetsuit but not a scratch on me. Nuff said.

4Performance and safety.
By Sam Archer
I have the 9" Fin for my longboards.I've used this fin for my 9'6" single fin longboards.Does it work? Yes. There is no performance difference using this fin. It is a very standard template but holds well on noserides. I've used it in hollow beachbreak and it doesn't slide out or flex too much. The fin is plastic with a soft edge and can still hurt if you land right on it but it shouldn't cut you.I wish they made this fin in a 9.5" version too.

5Very nice fin

I love this fin on my SUP. However, I have to remove it from my board when it hangs under my deck. Why? Because my dog loves this fin too. I must be tasty too. lol

5Know Your Own Pet
By A Customer
Before I bought these scat mats, I read many reviews that either said the mat was inhumane (and some people refuse to use it) OR the mat was the most incredible invention ever. Below is my review and hopefully it will help someone else decide if it is a good idea to purchase the mat, or not.First of all, I begin by saying, the mat works. There is no question about it. However how well it works, and where, and to what degree are all the variables that depend on YOU, the user as well as on the subject, your PET, cat or dog.Tall/Smart DogI had a 40 lb bulldog (a temporary house guest) who was quite tall (even for bulldogs, because I think he is mixed) and the dog was able to jump over a scat mat I placed in a doorway. It was only the second time the bulldog encountered the mat, and he was smart enough to know what to do. He took one leap and was already in the other room (where the Christmas tree, which I was trying to protect, was located). Therefore in the case of taller dogs (especially the ones that know how to jump very well) you may need to set down two mats (one next to another) rather than just one mat, to increase the surface area of the mat - that way the dog will never try to jump it.Smart but Short Legged and Lazy DogMy own bulldog, who is also 40 lbs but short and stumpy and lazy, NEVER tries anything with the mat in the same doorway. (Please not when you place mat in doorway it needs to completely cover the entire entrance - if there is space for the dog to get through without stepping on the mat, he or she will try it). When the mat is in the door way, it doesn't matter if there is a steak on the other side of the mat, my short legged bulldog will not even bother to try to go on, or near it. So that mat is a GREAT alternative to pet gates, which are usually made very poorly anyways that you end up breaking it. Your home also looks so much better without an ugly pet gate as. The mat is simple, and sweet, and your dog will never touch it and you yourself will just have to step over it so it is great in doorways or right below the stairs, like when/if you don't want your dog to go upstairs). However make sure you tell guests right when they get in the house about the mat because someone will always step on it and while it won't hurt them, it might be a little embarrassing - I had a house guest who was so startled by the mat shock, he said a bad word very loud, and I had to contain myself from laughing.Couch HoggingMy bulldog was also taking over our family room couch (and this guy is pretty spoiled, he has his own personal trainer and when her numerous suggestions didn't work), so we left mats on the couch and he never goes on the couch anymore. However keep in mind, the couch has to completely covered, because the dog will go on any areas large enough that was left uncovered on the couch . We have a large sectional and we use two large mats on each side. You also have to make sure that if the dog isn't allowed on the couch, he has another desirable place to rest his head (this is the interest of training, so that one day even without the mats, the dog will no longer go on the couch, and use his own bed).Smart Small DogsMy neighbor has a small tiny dog (mixed breed) and I sometimes babysit her, and this gave me insight on the use of scat mat on small dogs. It actually works better on them. With bulldogs, they have high threshold for pain, and it takes them a good 3/4 seconds to actually realize the scat mat for what it is. However for small dogs they will approach it, yelp from the surprise of shock and will never ever go near it. With bulldogs, they don't even make a sound after touching the mat so the high setting is recommended. However for small dogs, low or medium setting is fine. Plus you will not need the large size of the mat for small dogs, unless you want to make sure to cover a large surface area.PuppiesThe only reservations I have about the scat mat is its use on puppies. I just would not do it. It maybe too young for them to experience something alarming or surprising and it may impair their emotional development or trust towards you or your household so buyers if you want to train a puppy, consult a trainer and use treats and positive vs negative methods. DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE ON PUPPIES. I think this mat is more for matured dogs, whose ingrown habits you are trying to break. For instance, my bulldog took over the couch because my boyfriend kept letting him get on it and watch TV with him, and soon the entire couch was his and it got all smelly and gross so I used these mats to sort of wean him away from it, by preventing access, and giving him another comfortable place. Whenever the scat mat is not on the couch (temporarily, like when I have guests, my dog will still try to get on it but it's only been a few weeks so I think it will make some time. Puppies will always go on couches too for comfort but be strict about the couch issue (either they are allowed or they are not) while the puppy is young and it will solve the problem but it is necessary to use the scat mat for anything regarding training puppies - if you consult a certified trainer you can practically teach a puppy to do anything. When I say puppies, I am referring to a pet under 1 year of age or less. DO NOT USE SCAT MAT ESPECIALLY ON VERY YOUNG WEEK OLD PUPPIES I CANNOT ADVOCATE THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.CatsI looked after my best friend's cat and he was exposed to the scat mat. He took a few steps, got shocked and never even went downstairs ever again (where the mats are located in the house). However the cat is a rescue and he is very hostile and angry and has little confidence so I am not sure if the scat mat was what caused this extreme/over reaction or if the cat's personality contributed to it. I don't know much about cats, but this was the kind of cat that if you touched him, he will actually bite your hand. My dog also stays downstairs in the house so I don't know if it is because of the scat mats or dog that the cat refuses to venture to the first floor of the house. However I have heard that scat mats are great for kitchen counters when it comes to cats, who gets on them to access food, but I don't know enough about cats at all to tell you how they will do with scat mats. Whatever the case, you will have to know your cat or dog well enough to know if the scat mat will work or not.Inhumane or Not?After using and trying the mat out for some time, I also concluded that it is not inhumane (IF USED ON ADULT DOGS AND CATS), and here's why - people touch the device and say things like "it is too powerful, etc". but they forget that their animals are actually very highly intelligent. A dog or a car will only ever really feel a scat mat once or twice, and will NEVER go near it again. In my household, the ones that keep getting shocked are actually the humans because we leave it in the door ways, and on the couch and everyone forgets about it and either keep stepping on it, or sitting on it. So this device isn't an pain inflictor (maybe to yourself) but not to your animals - once they felt it they are over it, they will never go near it again. The pain is also psychology (almost tingly in fact and not physically harmful, I would know about this very well because I'll come downstairs all sleepy and sometimes forgets and stands on the mat for about a good 5/6 seconds). My friend told me about a lady whose standard Poodles were so tall they were getting food from kitchen counter tops it got so bad the owner had to put mouse traps on the counters - now THAT is what I call inhumane, and sheer desperation. I had to tell my friend to tell the lady about scat mats.I recently bought two scat mats and I use it in a door way to prevent my dog from messing with the Christmas tree, and another one below a shelf (where my dog was getting DVDs off of and biting them into pieces). I had to switch these two mats around to go on the couch as well so today I am getting another two to use solely for couch so it can stay put there, and my dog learns the entire thing is off limits, all day everyday. However I anticipate many people (humans) including myself accidently experiencing the "shock" value of the mats in my household than my dog (who is obviously smarter than us) ever will.I hope this review has been helpful to you, and again I would like to reiterate my point not to use the scat mat nor any other "devices" on young puppies - they can easily be trained with treats and repeating good habits and positive or negative reinforcements.

5Pricey but works wonders for cats :-)
By Wolverine
My cat had me at wits end. He wanted to be on the counters all the time. I'd come home to find cat litter on the counter which is gross. Tried using the xmats which have plastic spikes on them (he got used to them and walked all over them). Then I decided he would not win the war and got one of these shock pads(the shock is mild depending on how you set it). All it took was one time jumping on this and he got the surprise of a lifetime. He stays clear now. The secret is to put it where the cat likes to jump to then once they learn to avoid that spot move it to the next place they choose to jump up to. I think they remember the spots to avoid (at least my cat did). This product is made of cheap materials but it works and thats what counts. I highly recommend to owners of stubborn cats.

5Outstanding mic for the money
By Neal A. Thompson
I've been in the recording business for a long time. I've worked with Neumans, AKGs, and other top-notch mics. This isn't a Neuman, but for the money it blows away most mics selling for quite a bit more. For me, it sounds better than a Shure KSM-27 or even -32. If you want to spend a lot more you can find a better mic, but if you're on a budget this is one to get.

5Quality and great value
By M. D. Haden
I am in the broadcasting profession, and had been searching for a microphone to use in my own voice-over business. Over the years there were recommendations given from people with whom I worked about different mics. Having been a victim of the economy, I needed a really good microphone that wouldn't bust the budget. There were many options from which to choose. The MXL brand has a good reputation among voice-over artists, so that is the route I chose. But which model? I chose the MXL 770 for it's features, of course, but one factor that drew me back to it was it's appearance. It just has that 'quality' look about it plus I really like the coloring. It is so different from other mics which I have used over the years. It has a warmth and fullness to it. In the proper setting, it works like a charm. And you can't beat the value. If you want something that will give you a quality sound without breaking the bank, then I would give the MXL 770 a solid go.

4Nice home studio mic
By Ron J. O. Quinn
This 770 is my first MXL mic, but more than likely will not be my last. Mic appears to be well built with a nice shockmount. I like the crisp warm sound that the mic gives while still retaining the smooth lows.

5The Best of Henckels Knives
By S. Galbraith
I bought this set after considering the 18 Piece Gourmet Henckels for $299 (best price I could find) knowing that this set includes the steak knives from the 18 piece gourmet line vs. the professional S. I paid $420 for the set with an on-line coupon and felt for $120 more than the Gourmet set, I would get the best traditional handle set of knives Henckels offered. Most know, these knives are German made and the Professional S series offers the best material and forging Henckels offers. The set comes with a video that is helpful and the block allows room for a few additional knives if you choose. These knives are GREAT! Sharp, easy to hold, easy to cut with, and with this set, you have so many options. I was sick of buying cheaper knives and working so hard to prepare food. These knives make it fun to cut because they are so easy to work with.

4Knives are great, block should be redesigned
By V Barnum
This set was a replacement for a $30 set I owned. The knives are a huge improvement, sharp, no flexing when cutting through hard items, and the set includes all the knives an amateur cook will use. However, the wood block is a different story. The holes go completely through the wood block and the steak knives are too long so that the tips (of the bottom row) extend past the block. This means they scratch the owner's counter and possibly dull the knife tips. As a solution I store half the steak knives in a drawer, not ideal, but I never heard a response from an email sent to Henckels website. If the block was redesigned it would be a five star product.

5Henckles Knives
By trcsmith
My wife and I received a wood block set of Henckles knives for our wedding 27 years ago. I've used other knives over the years but the Henckles have always been the best. The only problems are the wooden handles. They are chipping and coming apart, but they always stay sharp and love the way they fit the hand. Now we are looking to purchases another set that should last us the rest of our lives.I giving a general review and not necessarily a review of the twin pro S, I'm sure they are of the same top quality as the ones we own.Tom & Kathy

4Useful machine for strong users
By M. S. Davenport
That may seem like an odd title for a review on a Hedge trimmer but if you've read the review by "Frank" you'll understand. The NPT318 is an amazing machine.I have the worst kind of hedges -tall 6-9feet, difficult to reach because of cramped space/sloping ground and encroaching citrus trees. The hedges are mainly bougainvillea which has awful thorns. The citrus have thorns too.It is hot and the hedges are overgrown because of record winter rains. In addition , I am not particularly strong. So, this is a good test situation.Yes this machine is difficult to operate at full reach horizontaly, but the alternatives are worse. I have used a 2-cycle hedge trimmer - a viscious ,noisy ,stinky beast. It is heavier! I bought my Dad a 240volt (yes off the mains for use in U.K.) German pole hedge trimmer. It is more powerful but just as unwieldy .In addition you have the power cord to deal with.I found the run time ideal - it still had plenty of charge after 45 minutes attacking the bougainvillea.By then I needed a rest anyway. I charged it during lunch and then attacked some more hedge. Some of this required me to use it at full stretch - I am 6ft with long arms +the pole -yes these are monster hedges. The machine worked perfectly. The alternative is wobbling on a step ladder ,juggling a power cord and trying to avoid the thorns. So far I've done all my hedges and the neighbor's without a scratch. It is far too hot to wear a shirt and using my old B&D with a power cord+ step ladder I would look like someone from a crucifiction scene in the movies by now. The combination of citrus and bougainvillea is bloody! My suggestins to B&D to improve the NPT 318 are:1.Increase the voltage from 18v to 24v. This will increase the run-time/decrease motor weight/increase power.2.Make the battery and charger interchangeable with other B&D equipment.3. Use lighter-weight metals(magnesium alloy?) for the blade and pole. The weight of the battery isn't a problem because of it's location on the handle.4. Consider offering an extending pole like Remington use on their pole chain saws.5. Design the NPT 318 so you can use it without the pole - like a conventional cordless hedge trimmer.6. When Black & Decker have a prototype they can test it on my bougainvillea !:-)

4Pleasantly surprised..
By Dallas Electronics Fan
When I needed a pole trimmer, the reviews in Amazon convinced me to give this one a try. First time out I used it for about 30 minutes (combined sustained operation). The battery held up admirably with no sign of losing power. It trimmed through everything up to about 1/3 of an inch without a problem. 1/2 an inch and above slowed it down and stalled it on several occasions. I bought this with the knowledge that this isn't a gas powered unit or heavy duty electric model with that kind of performance. My high trimming is mostly ligt duty and a good match for what this trimmer is capable of. It can be a little unwieldly but if you can operate a gas powered or heavy duty electric weed eater, this won't be a problem. I have other battery powered tools and usually get two to three years of light duty service before the battery stops holding a charge. I'd guess similar service from this. Replacement batteries are about 50 dollars. Note that you should store batteries inside or in an otherwise climate controlled environment (above +/- 60 degrees F). It's very quiet relative to another electric trimmer I own. In summation, if you need the reach of a pole trimmer for light duty and short duration trimming (+/- 20 minutes in my estimation), I can recommend this one.

2A Lot Shorter than Advertised!
By Thomas J. Migliore
After dropping $250 a year into having a landscaper trim my hemlocks (12 feet high-which is the only thing he does, I do all the rest anyway) I thought it made sense to buy my own hedge trimmer that was capable of long reaches. I spotted this unit for $129.00 in Lowes last year, but this year they don't have it. It turns out on Amazon it is cheaper anyway. My disspointment is the overall length. It is clearly marked on the box that the unit is 10 ft end to end, when in reality it is only about 6'5". I fiddled with it for 20 minutes figuring it must extend. I called B&D customer service and the nice girl on the phone explained "they didn't do a good job of describing the machine, it's 10 feet when you extend your arms". I gotta tell you - I'm 6'6" and even so there's no way my arms extend 3.5 feet.I think based on the reviews this machine will still work OK - but buyer beware - it doesn't have the reach that is clearly labeled on the box.
