Worked out great for mother's day

I bought this for my wife as a mother's day gift. I chose it because it was moderately priced and stainless steel.So far we have sliced potatoes and onions. It works nicely with the standard flat blade making cuts from very, very thin to pretty thick. We haven't tried the other blades yet, but it seems to work very well as a basic slicer.One nice thing is that the blades come packed in a plastic case that keeps the organized and safe. You do need to hold onto the handle when slicing or the legs will fold under on you. It has a nice tubular stainless handle for this. The whole thing goes through the dishwasher easily. We have not viewed the DVD, but this is pretty simple to figure out.I'd call it a decent value and a useful tool.

Mandoline slicer

We have had it for a year now and my wife loves it. She has used it to slice cucumbers for pickle slices which is great as this way they are all uniform in thickness. Tho you can't use the handle that would normally be uses as they are too tall and too long to fit horizontally.For potatoes the handle/guide works well but you can not get the very last of the potato sliced but this is normal due to the function of the handle waste is minimal.The blades are sharp and have stayed that way so far its great for making French fries with the vertical blade used in combination with the slicer blade. It's really a time saver and all of your cuts are uniform. The blades are removable and makes the unit and blades easy to clean.The unit seems sturdy and we have had no issues with it.It seems to be worth the money can't really find any major issues that would warrant a bad review. We had ours for a year now and its still working fine no broken parts.

The BergHoff mandoline works really well. The stand is sturdy, and the blades are all razor sharp. I love that the slicer comes with a guard, although I have not been using it - as a result accidentally sliced the tip of the nail on my thumb when the vegetable I was slicing got close to the blade!One thing I will point out is that the straight blade does need to be in place when using the blades with teeth. The thickness of the cuts can easily be adjusted using the two knobs on both sides of the slicer. And the stainless steel makes cleanup a breeze and keeps it nice and shiny! I would highly recommend this product.
