5The Master Blaster really works...really!
By William W. Davis
I am impressed with the Lazer Tag Master Blaster! Let me tell you why. First, some background info:My oldest son just turned 10-years-old this week. He loves camping and loves hanging out with his friends, so I decided to pitch tents for one Friday night in his grandparents big back yard and we'd invite his friends and their dads. Nine boys showed up, about half with their dads, too.I wondered what kind of games to play with the boys at night in the backyard, and didn't stumble upon the idea of Lazer Tag until Monday evening, just four days before his party. After a quick Internet search, I learned that nearly all the Hasbro Lazer Tag products are still out-of-stock from this past Christmas season! However, Amazon had the Master Blaster available, and better still, it was 60% off the suggested retail price. Not only did they have it in stock, but I could get next day shipping and expedited, 2-day shipping to ensure I'd get the taggers before the Friday party. This was great! But did they really work? There are only 8 reviews of the Master Blaster as I write my own review tonight. They were favorable and enthusiastic. Moreover, the reviews for the pistol-style Deluxe Lazer Tag -- which is not available anywhere -- were plentiful and postive. I decided to purchase 10 Master Blasters. The shipping charges are hefty for 2-day service -- the units are so big, they can't be put into one big box. So, be prepared for hefty shipping charges on each unit you buy, especially if you require expedited shipping service as I did.I placed the order on Monday, they'd ship on Tuesday, I ought to get them on Thursday. That was the plan.Interestingly, Amazon shipped all 10 Master Blasters on Tuesday, but from different U.S. locations. Strange, but, that didn't really matter to me.On Thursday, two of the 10 Master Blasters arrived -- but not the remaining eight! I got a chance to set-up the two that I did receive. The Master Blasters require 6 (not 9, as it says on Amazon's product data) AA batteries, and it requires a Philips head screwdriver to unscrew two small battery compartment cover screws. The battery compartment springs fit the batteries together tightly, and it's a little difficult to insert the batteries because of this.As others have noted, the instruction manual for this unit is complex and detailed -- these Master Blasters have a LOT of different functions and capabilities. However, if you get through the reading of hosting and joining a game, in practice, it's really not that difficult. Better still, there is a very simple "classic" lazer tag game that lets everyone understand how lazer tag is played, and how to use their Master Blasters. On the day of my son's party, the remaining eight Master Blasters still hadn't arrived by the time we had to leave my house. I had another dad drive to my house and await the late arrival -- they finally came, literally with no time to spare. The manuals say "Not for nighttime use" but that must be legal mumbo-jumbo, because the Master Blasters work fine at night -- and during the day, too. At night, they pleasingly light up red if you tag another player. They have LED lights and audible cues that let you know what's happening during the game.In use, the Master Blasters are terrific! The missles really work -- launch them, they sail away, land, and tag nearby opponents. I tagged players several hundred feet away from me, sniper style (they did the same to me, too). The Master Blasters are amazingly accurate when you use the sights on the barrel. The hosting and joining works, a little slowly, but effectively. In sum, TERRIFIC PRODUCT, that works as the manufacturer described. My son's party was a total hit -- both dads and sons thought it great, and everyone is looking forward to playing again, learning more games and features of our Master Blasters.

5Great Fun
By Samuel L. Snyder
The L.T. Master Blaster is a perfect addition to the Lazer Tag Team Ops set. It allows the player a great sniper/heavy weapons infra-red platform for those longer range battles. With a more focused lens hits of up to 1000 feet have been recorded in idea conditions. The TMB also allows you the ability to link, or Dual, a Master Blaster Lazer Tag Team Ops rifle and an IRT-2X LTTO pistol. This makes for an EXCELENT combo. You have the TMB for longer range and the IRT-2X for those close in Capture the flag and king of the zone games.Highly recomended! This is also a GREAT and much less expensive alternative to paintball. Not to mention it's much safer.

5Lazer Tag Team Ops---Master Blaster Review
By Sandman29
I just bought two of these for my kids [...] (boy) and (girl). I was expecting that the guns would be of relatively low quality and would not be overall a great toy, but I wanted to encourage my kids to get outside and run around. I figured I'd give Lazer Tag a try.I was VERY surprised to find they REALLY WORK. I mean they are really accurate and very good, solidly built toys. There are a variety of games that you can program into the gun which keeps things a bit different each time (nice!). My daughter doesn't play too much anymore though, but she was never really into the gun thing anyway. Not a problem. My son still loves to play with me and we run around and shoot it up and have a great time together. The rocket REALLY works great also. It launches very far and shoots out infrared (or whatever) shots in all directions on impact. Very neat effect. My only concerns with the rocket are that it is made of a nerf-type material and can break/tear if not taken care of. We just lost one (actually, I think my wife lost it, not really the kids). We also bought two of the individual "taggers" (guns) and they add even more fun. We can have teams play and it adds a few new games to the mix including our favorite, "own the zone", where one of the handguns is the "zone generator" and it emits a zone of infrared which you have to try move into and stay there to score points. Very hard, and lots of running in that game. The batteries seems to last a long time. We played for several hours one day on a single charge with no problem. Then the kids played over several days for shorter bursts still on the same batteries. I would estimate at least a few days play per set of batteries. We bought rechargables for all of them too--it'll same money in the long run.I think all of the guns are quite durable, made of seemingly sturdy plastic. I think the kids could rough them up and they'd still be OK. I've read other reviews of people dropping them on concrete and still being fine. One day, though, my son was pumping up the gun in preparation to shoot the rocket (built in air pump-thing) but to do so he stuck the muzzle of the gun in the dirt. This got mud/dirt all over the dual lazer lenses on the front of the gun and then he couldn't hit me for about 10 minutes until we realized it and cleaned them off. No permanent damage done though.Ideally, I think the best ages for these guns is 10+, but coordinated slightly younger kids could do OK also. It is essential that the kids have other people to play with though and you need enough guns to go around for everyone. Still, we got 4 guns and rechargable batteries for under $100.00. Not bad really.Oh, I've read some people complaining about having difficulty programming the game modes on the guns. Yes, it takes about 20-30 minutes to become proficient and really should be initially handled by an adult, but now we fly through it no problem. Kids probably wouldn't be able to figure it out by themselves (little kids I mean).Overall, I recommend the Lazer Tag brand of guns. Very good so far and we expect only more fun to come now that spring is here. Even my wife was out playing with us last time!!!Go buy them-- you won't be disappointed.PS: I only gave them a 3 for educational value because it's really more of a running sport type toy. Sure, you learn teamwork and strategy, but it's not chess you know. You get the point.
