More than just an ergonomic chair

I purchased the swopper after doing a lot of online research. I could return it for a full refund if I didn't like it to the store I purchased it from. The stool/chair has been fantastic and like many other reviews say, really does work and cure lower back issues. Not only that, it promotes the right posture, movement and active sitting. Unlike other similarly priced so called ergonomic chairs that have a back support, the lack of one on the swopper actually strengthens the lower back muscles. Plush ergonomic chairs with back support just weaken the back. I was skeptical about the results of sitting on the swopper before purchase, but I am totally convinced and thrilled that it works. You will never go back to sitting on a regular chair (however expensive) again. Only, get used to sitting on it in stages as the instructions suggest and eventually make it your full-time chair. I liked the chair so much that I now have two, one for work and the other for home use. In fact, I'm sitting on one as I write this review :). Nothing is worth more than the health of your back.

I'm giving this product 5 stars but only because I was going to do 4 stars and trying to figure which way it leans towards the 5th or 4th star and I think its toward the 5th star.The Good: It is well designed and appears that it will last a lifetime. It looks very cool. It seems to have improved my lower back pain. I am at the computer sometimes 10 or more hours a day!The Bad: I ordered the Leather cover (black with silver stand I think it was called the executive swopper or something) and that has been a huge hassle to get it to stay centered. I have had the chair more than 2 years now and since about 3 months old the leather cover will not stay centered. The padding under the leather is circular as you can see in the picture, and it gets narrower as you go down the chair. This is where the problem sets in. The leather as you sit in it slides. It is difficult to explain but the fabric is pulled so tight that you cannot realign it easily. I'm thinking someday I'll have to get it recovered or something. It does take a small learning curve to get used to balancing on it. My mother came over and promptly fell off the chair!And by the way, I thought maybe I just got a defective swopper so I "swapped" it out for another one, and the 2nd one did/ does the exact same thing. The vendor said its better to get these with the fabric cover.Overall, a very good purchase.

I've had my chair/stool for three years - it's "born" date is easy to remember 8/8/08! It has been great for me and still looks and feels brand new. I purchased mine from Via in black cloth (the only vendor I could find in the US who carried it at the time). This is the perfect chair for someone like me who has difficulty sitting still.A reviewer mentioned they have leather and it "slides" a bit. Well, the fabric does the same, maybe it moves less. I just rotate the seat around so the fabric will work itself the other way. It think it has to do with the seat leaning forward as you sit.With all the news lately about sitting being so bad for you, I think this chair allows just the right amount of movement to offset any stillness in the pelvis.I have sat on it for eight hours straight working on a project and had no problem. This is after years of use though.Would I purchase it again? Absolutely. There are times I miss a back to lean against. If that happens I just get up and walk around a bit.
