4Sieko Kinetic Watch (model SKH676)
By E. Guckes
My second kinetic but first from Sieko. The Seiko SKH676 is one of the best $250+ watches on the market. Unfortunately, as the face is a very dark blue color, the hands should have been luminated as you can not see them very well. This is very annoying. Adding luminated hands would probably make this THE ONLY WATCH to get in this price range. Overall, a great watch with one missing feature.

1Va Tech Hokie - Don't Buy Any Kinetic Watch
By V. McGehee
Mens Arctura Kinetic Watch--After owning my Seiko Men's Kinetic SKH676 watch for ca. 8 - 10 years, it suddenly slowed and stopped running in just one day. Upon searching the internet, I learned that these "kinetic watches" don't last without an expensive replacement of the capacitor / rechargeable battery. I sent my watch to Seiko's repair center and learned that the cost to repair would be $76.97 plus $10.50 ship/deliver, an $87.47 total cost -- not including my USPS mail to cost of ca. $8.00 with insurance and delivery confirmation. In summary, operating cost is ca. $100.00 repair for a replacement rechargeable battery in ca. 8 to 10 years. Bottom line recommendation: Buy a regular, non-rechargeable battery-operated watch and spend ca. $5.00 for a new battery every one-to-two years and save money both in the initial price of the watch and subsequent battery replacements (YES, KINETIC WATCHES DO HAVE BATTERIES THAT MUST PERIODICALLY BE REPLACED.)

5Can't Beat a Seiko!
By R. D. Long
I bought a classic "Rolex look" Seiko dress watch in Singapore in 1989. It has run great for all these years and still has the original band. I've had it cleaned a couple of times and periodically replaced the battery.Last weekend the wife was shopping at a local outlet mall. There was Seiko Company store in the mall. I always browse around for watches, mostly to see if I can find one in the USA like the one I bought in Singaore. Never have found one. While browsing, a gentleman offered me an "additional 25% off" coupon. Most of the watches were already reduced from retail (whatever that number means) and there was a Manager's Special additional 25% off that. I bought this Kinetic watch for $148 ($350 retail) after the Manager's Special and my additional 25% off coupon. I couldn't pass up the deal, even though my old watch is still running fine, I know it is just a matter of time until it gives up.So far I like the weight of the watch (I like the thin dress watch weight and look). It is not as heavy as you would think for it being Kinetic. The face is a deep dark blue that looks black. I had to take it out of the store into the sunlight before I believed the sales clerk on the color. Stylish band that is a nice two-tone with the new center push clasp. All in all, I'm pleased with my purchase - partially because of the deal price and partially because it is a good looking Seiko that I know I can count on for years to come.
