5Chime Comparison
By javajunki
I like good wind chimes and own several above average versions so when this came up for sale on Amazon for $330 I jumped at the opportunity to buy it (only to watch other versions drop to below $300 days later but so it goes]. In any event, this is my first set of chimes from Music of the Spheres but I've always been impressed by their bass chimes and was not let down. They arrived promptly and well packaged. Everything was in good order except for the large flag which was bent in transit - otherwise well packaged. The chimes themselves are large and deeply resonant...something I was concerned about given the coating. In the past I've purchased several large chimes from Grace Notes which are simply incredible chimes (uncoated) so I wondered how these would compare - quite favorably! Grace notes seem to have a slightly more "thin" sound whereas these have a little "buffered" or slight "muffle" to them but very minimal. It actually sounds very nice on the bass chimes and the overall sound quality is impressive. For comparisons sake, I purchased chimes from another well known brand that reminds everyone of large rock concerts and sent them back due to sounding like clanking cans. If you are serious about sound quality of chimes then stick to Grace Notes or Music of the Spheres - both are excellent choices and well worth the additional expense. These are large chimes so you will need plenty of space to hang them but the low sound makes them non-obtrusive. BTW, GREAT sale on these and extremely pleased by the price (even if it was reduced right after).

5Nice Chimes Price
By loadedlemons
Bought these chimes on sale at Amazon. Much less than the price now.I have them on a 12 foot pressure treated 4x4 post, 32" in the ground. Theyare hanging off of a hanger purchased from Music of the Sphere's website. The hanger is the reinforced one for Bass Chimes. The chimes are loud with the wind catcher or sail provided....so I took an old junk CD component player..and used the black case top to cutout a 8.5 inch sail. I used my grinder to smooth the edges. I had to spray paint oneside black, as this side was silver in color. But now the striker isn't as active asthe 12 inch sail/wind catcher. The 8 1/2" sail I fabricated looks almost identical to the one that came with the chimes, right down to the rounded corners and slight bend across the sail. Enjoying my chimeseveryday. Especially paying less than half for them. They hang about 7 and a half feetin length...and the sail will move over 3 feet around in the wind. They need to be hungaway from the house, so the sail doesn't ruin the siding. They sell the wind catchers in different sizes at the Music of the Sphere's website.

4Happy customer, but they are not quite perfect
By M.B.
I've created and tuned my own wind chimes, so I am a picky customer. I wanted a set of chimes that was sturdy, deep with a long resonance. These chimes delivered and I'm a totally happy customer. Here's a quick rundown:PROS: These chimes sound awesome. The resonance is amazing -- they really hold their tone Plenty active in a wind even as light as 8mph Solid construction I love the notes on the striker (so you know what tonality you bought)CONS: Given the construction, these chimes cannot be "disassembled" for easier install. You have to hoist the entire assembly (minus the sail). The way they tied up the top knot gives you plenty of nylon cord to work with, but makes it a bit more challenging to hang on a hook (you have to tie another knot, no big deal).
