Product Description

The Rubbermaid Commercial Brute rollout trash can is a rectangular, injection-molded, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) garbage can with a hinged lid for general trash collection. HDPE is stronger than low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and resists moisture and certain chemicals. The hinged lid flips open fully and locks against the trash can. An integrated handle and 8-inch rubber wheels allow for maneuverability, and the wheels are inset to help prevent damage to walls and doorways. A molded-in axle retainer adds strength. Rounded corners and smooth contours enable the trash can to be wiped clean. An ultraviolet (UV) stabilizer helps prevent fading and discoloring. This product can help earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits. The Rubbermaid Commercial Brute rollout trash can is suitable for use with disposable liners (sold separately).

Trash cans are used for the disposal and temporary storage of garbage. They are typically made of plastic or metal and sometimes have a top or lid to contain odors and waste. Certain garbage cans meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for the disposal of medical waste or National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) requirements for food handling and processing. Others include a lock to prevent unauthorized access, safeguard confidential materials, and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements. Waste bins can also be color-coded to facilitate the separation of recyclable waste, such as bottles, cans, paper, and general refuse. Ash/trash cans typically include an ash tray on top for cigarette disposal. Trash cans are used in virtually all commercial and industrial environments.

Rubbermaid manufactures cleaning, organizing, and material handling products for commercial, medical, and industrial applications. The company, founded in 1933, is headquartered in Huntersville, NC.

4The Cadillac of Wheeled Cans
By John K.
Bought 2 of these cans within two years. Ordered from an industrial supply company, then picked them up locally. Size is perfect for most single-family homes - two of these will hold an enormous amount of trash.Very tough plastic body and lid - withstands the abuse of automated trash trucks. Lid is secured with a hefty hinge that looks indestructible. Can't say enough about the convenience of an attached lid.The wheels are larger than consumer models - there's less pushing effort and it's easier to roll down steps. I could use even larger wheels, since I push these through heavy snow down a 200' driveway. But, they're still easier to move than most wheeled cans.I did have a problem with one of the cans after about 1 1/2 years of steady use. One of the end caps that secures the wheel to the axle worked it's way off and disappeared, causing the wheel to fall off. It was repaired fairly easily by installing a washer on the axle and securing the wheel with a small hose clamp. Doesn't look pretty, but it holds better than the original cap - which was just press-fit onto the axle. One minor annoyance is the fact that the wheel wells intrude on the interior of the can. It doesn't lower capacity that much, but can sometimes make it harder to stuff that last bag in and close the lid. For this kind of money, I'd like to see the wheels set back from the body of the can. Those are the only negatives I found with this product, otherwise it would be an easy 5-star rating.

5Great garbage can with only one flaw
By Donna Goldman
I actually had to really search to find the right type of garbage can eventually getting this one shipped to me. This garbage can (it's that grey, hard, plastic type) is great. It's big, it's lid is attached which is very important, it rolls very well, and is sturdy. The only problem with the garbage can is the top of the container is square so when the bag goes in you need to stretch it carefully to fit without ripping one edge (which doesn't really hurt it but...). I need to go to Sam's for the bags because the supermarket's largest bags are still not big enough (needs 55 gllon) to fit the can. So the sole problem is really a flaw. Don't sacrifice the size, the attached lid, or wheels for the need to take the time stretch the bag. If you can get the same exact can with a round lid you should, otherwise buy this can.

5HUGE! Not really for a single family home
By Patricia P. Surrey
This thing is enormous! It is replacing all our old barrels. I bought two but I doubt I will ever need both. I wish I had this during the weeks following Hurricane Sandy. It is sturdy, wide, and deep.
