Get a size bigger and you'll be happy. Or if you're in between sizes, go for the larger one, don't skip another one up.I bought these while I was learning to snowboard and they did help a lot with the countless falls. I live on the easy coast and for those who ski/snowboard you know there's a lot of ice so some protection is always good.Years down the road, I know how to snowboard pretty well. I'm no pro, but I get around and I still wear them. They are rather comfortable for being bulky and having pads all over and reasonably warm. In fact they replaced my regular thermals and in the random event that I do fall they still protect.Another good use for the pads, which made me make the switch from thermals to these is that extra cushion on the butt and the knees. While sitting or kneeling on the snow, it adds an extra thick layer of insulation, which I noticed does make a big difference, especially when kneeling. Those are great as a base layer while riding, good wicking capability, and protect when sitting, kneeling or when embarrassingly falling down.Highly recommended. Just Get a size bigger IMO

Great as a base layer or second layer. Helps keep you warm and provides good padding whether you're strapping in, waiting for others in your party or unexpectedly slamming into the snow. I won't board without them.
