4R steek rule

48-inch 4R rigid steel rule: I have had this rule for over a year now and have been very happy with it. I checked the straightness with my Starrett 6-foot straight edge bar and it was within .002-inch over the entire length. The accuracy was well within the limits for woodworking. The engraving of the divisions was also accurate using a 12-inch standard and sliding it along to see if the divisions were constant throughout the length. Unlike some cheap rules the marks are on all four edges.The desigination "4R" indicates the four scales on the ruler.( 8, 16, 32 and 64th)which is an industry standard. Other sets of scales may be used on other rulers and are available. The 8ths scale is good for rough layout work. I tend to use the 16th scale and the 32th scale the most.
