Let's get one thing out of the way immediately - this is the second most expensive toaster in the universe. You don't even want to know what the most expensive toaster costs. So when you buy one of these and put it in your kitchen counter you are making a statement, not just toasting bread. Unfortunately, that statement is that you are a compulsive perfectionist. Some people may consider you slightly insane.That being said, this toaster is build like a rock and has 4 slots wide enough for a bagel slice. The toast switches work independendly of the slice lifts so you can lift the lever, examine the slice, and lower it back in without resetting the timer. The crumb trays are capacious, and yes, it is retro cool. The guarantee is incredible - if it breaks, they replace it.Frankly, I love it, but I am a compulsive, and I just redid my kitchen. In the massive cash flow that occasioned the toaster didn't seem like a whole lot. Especially for something that sits on the counter, looks good and does an amazing job of making toast. More sensible people might find the whole thing excessive, but what the heck, is there life without toast?

it's faultless. nearly bought a dualit but fortunately the kitchenaid was on the same display shelf and a two minute comparison - very handy having them side by side - showed the ka to be heftier, solider, in fact the dualit, which i'd always thought to be the rolls royce of toasters, came across as flimsy. this probably sounds plain sad, but it's just such a nice piece of equipment to look at and run ones hand over. oh, it makes great toast too.

If you are anything like me you are so frustrated right now because you cannot find a toaster with great reviews except the most expensive toaster on amazon.I must admit the price of this toaster did cause me to pause, but in the end it is more than worth it. I previously bought the "T-fal TL6802002 4-Slice Digital Toaster, Black" because it was the highest reviewed toaster in my price range. Well, that toaster is now on a shelf collecting dust because quite frankly it sucked. So is this toaster really that expensive considering my other toaster now sits on a shelf?Pros:It toasts perfectly every time - that my friends is tough to findLove the handle that you can lift to check your toast without interrupting the cycleIt is a beautiful toasterCons:There is no bagel function, however the slots are definitely big enough for a bagelIt is very large, if you have no counter space then you want to go with a more compact modelIn my opinion this,toaster is worth every penny!
